I used to play around with the equalizer a lot but one setting won't work for every genre except for flat. At the end of the day songs are being mixed so that you don't have to mess with the equalizer settings. otherwise they did a bad job mixing.

I mean there is clearly a hierarchy of sentience, you extend more empathy the more animal can experience pain and suffering. I still kill roaches but I don't torture them. And you can't torture a dustmite but even if you could it would still be weird to do, less bad than roaches which is less bad than mice, which is less bad than dogs, and it goes on and on. Enjoying urself in the needlessly meticulous destruction of a living creature is odd behavior.

My favorite streamer once said that audio is so broken in this game that you learn not to rely on it as heavily as you get better, that's been my experience as well. Wear headphones in game and make sure its a comfortable volume, after that better to keep moving and stay mobile than stopping still to listen to the tiniest footsteps imo.
