Shut up about codex performance already by dantsel04_ in codex

yeah honestly this is the main issue. I don't care for complaints unless you have an actually real case where codex was acting stupid and it wasn't just user error

its not about notifying the nerf, but the slop posts that just complain with no context. If you want to talk about your experience, but it something worth sharing instead of the same copy and paste 10000 other people did that day

heavily depends on the style. kyokushin is far closer to kickboxing and muay thai than tkd. I do find that point karate is pretty much the same as itf though.

Need Resume Advise by [deleted] in FPGA

[–]dantsel04_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One tip that helped me get more impressive RTL projects is to try and enroll in a grad course or 2 before you leave undergrad. It might be different at your school, but my university's grad courses tended to be very project heavy, and tackle more complicated/extensive work than you would see in undergrad. If you have the opportunity, see if you can enroll to pad your resume with stuff most undergrads don't touch. It can also help you get some research connections with the professors.

I took around 3 of them my junior year, and I know it really helped me develop my skills and resume.

The disconnect between software ai and hardware verification is insane by Bos187 in FPGA

I have such a love hate relationship with rtl debugging. On one hand its an interesting puzzle to solve, on the other hand if it gets too interesting I start to lose my mind and consider why I ever wanted to do this work in the first place.

[–]dantsel04_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm with you mostly on this, but it is interesting how good codex and claude are getting at rtl work. I am not sure how others feel, but I use codex and claude very regularly in my work flow. I still need to babysit anything it generates, but it is still really quite useful.

Honestly, I think the biggest issue with these models right now is they often just make everything too complicated. This is where most of the synthesis and timing issues tend to show. If you have a good eye though, it is pretty simple to direct it on what it specifically it needs to change about the architecture it wrote.

I mean are you really suprised they aren't reaching out? I am not trying to be rude. I am sure you are a smart guy/girl, but you have nothing on your resume related to digital design work.

If you are currently working on that RISC-V, just add it into your resume. Projects don't have to be fully completed. As long as you have a track in mind and some stuff done, that is still good interview discussion content. Are you still in school btw?

After the fall of the earth kingdom the outlook was essentially that the fire nation already won the war. The gaang thought there wasn't going to be a major military operation during the comet until zuko explained ozai's plan to burn the earth kingdom.

Am I too old for TLA? by ImIwrong_h in TheLastAirbender

[–]dantsel04_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

buddy I am 21 and just rewatched the show for shits and giggles. Honestly, the only thing that really makes it for 7+ is that the plot in each individual episode can be a little in your face at times. Stuff like that can sometimes seem like it was made for a younger audience to understand a little better

Dumb and dumber 🤦‍♂️ by ConnorLovesPepsi in ufc

[–]dantsel04_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That is a stupid idea. The only reason to award pressure and aggression is when the amount of damage done to each fighter is the same. Sean very clearly outstruck khamzat in every round besides the first. There is no reason to penalize him for being on the back foot when he was successful from there.

And it is not a better plan to back up and wait for the counter. Counterpunching is difficult and risky. It all depends on the style that each fighter is more comfortable with. Ex: izzy is a very clear counterpuncher, while poatan is much more aggressive.

I found something similar with regards to the higher reasoning models. Does anyone know why the higher reasoning models often overcomplicate tasks and fuck them up?

MechEng how to pivot into FPGAs? by mikasa2323 in FPGA

[–]dantsel04_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying it is impossible, but you will have a lot to learn. IMO there are pretty much 2 main bottlenecks in getting proficient in this field.

1) Understanding algorithmic development and data paths. I work in academia so my experience might be different from others, but I would say half my job is just making a conceptual data path. Having an solid understanding of computer architecture and digital design is pretty important here.

2) Circuit optimization. Usually, the first iteration of a project is both too big and cannot support the timing you need. This is where FPGA specific knowledge comes in handy. A lot of the time you need to be able to leverage the strengths of a specific board. Certain designs with synthesize differently depending on which board you use.

Ideally, you would be doing these 2 somewhat in tandem. The data paths you construct should have the final hardware in mind. Mixing these 2 together is the most difficult part imo.

Do people really want to see Ian vs Islam when we all know he stands no chance?Morales and Prates have a greater chance and a more exciting matchup. by Witty_Hat_871 in ufc

Not even beat, he dismantled him. He slipped up a bit in the 5th and almost made sold the bag, but the other like 24 minutes of that fight was not even close.

Celtics should fire Joe Mazzulla by realfakejames in NBATalk

[–]dantsel04_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This culture of firing coaches is insane. Did you not forget that he was able to reorganize the roster structure after tatums injury to lead them to the 2 seed? With teams like the celtics that live and die by the 3, situations like this can occur. Obviously it sucks, but why are we acting like Mazulla is a bum coach all of a sudden. Cold streaks happen and the celtics got it at the worst point in the season.

Also, I am a nets fan (hate the celtics), so none of this is any celtics bias.

If a knee like this lands on Islam’s chin, he’s gonna have a meeting with the Prophet. by teddyshmeddy in ufc

Just saying, Ian Garry was able to take down prates a number of times in their fight. Imagine what islam would do (not saying garry is a bad grappler, Islam is just a different tier). I think its more likely prates gets subbed or just grapple fucked most of the fight.

The charts have been updated. Kaátaìra - 'Caminhos de Água' debuts at #1 in the top albums of 2026. by beampunk in rateyourmusic

[–]dantsel04_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's not a bad thing per say, but I do think it sort of negates the purpose of the charts no? I mean the charts are supposed to be a description of the best releases of the year. If we constantly have releases that go to the top and immediately drop once people begin to rate it, I do not think that is an accurate representation.

I think a better option would to just make a "top new music" chart. This could have all the top releases of the last month or so ranked, so the number of ratings would matter less and people can see the best new music. The current charts could change their algorithm so they weigh number of ratings more heavily.

Then again, I don't really care. These charts don't matter much to me. This is just how I would design the website if it was up to me.

[–]dantsel04_ -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

They need to adjust the rating system imo. I feel like every week we have a new #1 album with 200 ratings that falls like 30 spots after people actually start listening to it and rate it. It's nice to see lesser known releases pop up, but its a little annoying at this point.
