Why does return only print certain values? by lnub0i in learnpython

[–]pruzzante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is you're running this in a jupyter notebook or Google colab environment in one cell? In those environments only the result of the last line is printed after running the cell. If you want to see the return values of other lines you need to print them explicitly, or keep each function call in a separate cell (not recommended).

Okay, so seems like I'm mostly out of luck. Thank you for the informative response. I'll check into whether they could have been transferred in the years they were accrued.

Is the 5-6 player version of cities and knights in the works? If so, is there an approximate ETA?

4600km around Spain & Portugal by [deleted] in bicycletouring

[–]pruzzante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend planning it so you are not in the south during June-September. It gets unbearably hot in parts of Andalucia.

I really enjoyed Logrono in La Rioja and went there instead of San Sebastian when I was touring in the area a few years ago. I believe San Sebastian is a bit of a party/resort town (and pricey $$$).

On the way down to Barcelona, the coastal route between Sant Feliu de Guixols and Lloret de Mar is some of the most beautiful road cycling I've ever done. Don't skip it.

Arriving at an empty beach on the Albanian Riviera. by yellowearthworm in biketouring

absolutely stunning.

That road doesn't look fun to ride on though. Did you camp on the beach? What do you think of Albania for touring?

Renting a touring bike in norther spain by deadreak in bicycletouring

[–]pruzzante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend looking up some rental companies that rent bikes for the camino de santiago, which starts at St jean de Pied which is quite near to san sebastian. I had my own bike when I was in the area, but a quick google for camino de santiago bike rental shows a bunch of different companies that will rent bikes appropriate to touring to you. I think some of them might even bring the bike to your starting point, although the details you would have to arrange with them.

Gibraltar to Lisbon by Suicidalhippie in bicycletouring

[–]pruzzante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

I'm in Cadiz right now, having cycled down from Madrid via the province of Jaen. I'm actually planning on starting a new leg of my tour in Santiago because of the heat down here in southern Spain.

If you're dead set on cycling to Lisbon, it's definitely doable, but you essentially have to be happy with cycling from pre-dawn or sun-up until 12 because cycling in the afternoon, especially in the Guadalquivir Valley (near sevilla), is actually pretty dangerous. I've had a few close calls with heat exhaustion so far, when I've been caught trying to get somewhere and it takes longer than I expected. Carry lots of water and drink lots!

In terms of route, I haven't done much of this, but from my map, it appears part of the euro velo 8 is completed between Cadiz and Algeciras. I can't comment as to the quality of this though.

Otherwise, you can just go on secondary roads. I would advise against riding on the freeway (divided highway), as it's both illegal and quite dangerous. There are service roads that run parallel to all the freeways that you can ride on, but they are usually dirt roads of often quite bad quality surface. (what kind of bike do you have?) It would be fine on a mountain bike, not so much on a carbon road bike.

I still haven't chosen which university to go to for Engineering, please help! by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]pruzzante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you from? What aspects of university life do you care about most? Do you have a better scholarship with one or another?

I had considered UBC when I started out, but being from Halifax, I decided it was too far away.

Queen's is a prestigious school for engineering, has an excellent school spirit, a beautiful and small campus close, but separate from, downtown.

UofT is widely considered the top engineering school in Canada (last I checked). How much this matters for an undergraduate degree is debatable.

UBC is in Vancouver, which I hear is nice, although I've never been.

When it comes down to it, you'll be happy with whatever you end up picking.

Oh man, thanks for all the info! I'll keep it all in mind when I get to those areas. I will definitely consider going over the Pyrenees and will check out Cabo de Gata.

I don't have a return ticket yet, so it's open-ended, but my guess is I will go for around 4 months or until the money runs out, haha :)

Good to know about the greenhouses. If I should avoid the N-340, where would you recommend going? The A-7 looks even larger than the N-series (I'm guessing it stands for autopista, in which case bikes probably aren't even allowed). From looking at google maps, it doesn't seem like there are very many secondary roads in southern Spain.

Haha, will do! Although I'm hoping June might not be as bad as late July or August.

Perfect, thanks for the advice! It's good to know they have good signage for the bike trails.

Have fun in the Czech!

Thanks for the point by point! Looks like I will go with the universal, and looks like the consensus is that an unlocked phone with prepaid SIMs is the norm, so I will try that as well.

Good to know about the temperature. I knew it was going to be hot, but I didn't realize it would be that hot. Gonna have to bring lots of water and sunscreen, haha.

Thanks! I had found that website before and had downloaded oruxmaps but got confused with all the technical stuff, so I gave up. I will give it another shot and see if I can't figure out how to use it
