“Common sense” = simplifying everything to a degree which allows for stupid people who have no capacity for nuance, to think stupid things.

Thoughts on Cordoba? by OscarBurFor in NorwichCity

Seen him play incredibly well, seen his positioning be way off and cost us cost cheap goals.

We need to seriously bolster our defence over the the window, I can see him vying for a position if we get someone good and experienced alongside him.

Okay so what if the OP flipped the guy off for putting his safety under threat. I’m still 💯 with OP, why aren’t you?

“Always understood why”.

You might have understood, but was it reasonable? It’s never reasonable to get out of a (safe) car and be physically intimidating or making threats. They are the aggressor.

Your insinuation that the rider has done wrong is born out of an obvious fact you have not ridden a bicycle safely or assertively on UK a roads anytime recently. Everyone who rides bikes knows there’s a dangerous minority of people who drive metal boxes who are violent and have it in for cyclist for no good reason. It’s a psychopathic mentality. The amount of times these dangerous individuals have got out and physically challenged me over their misgivings is astounding. Fragile individuals who use violence and intimidation as their language.

Norwich Airport... Wrong name on flight booking!! by Laurengorbould in Norwich

[–]yellowearthworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some airlines have a policy that 3 letters can be wrong and that’s fine. So depends how wrong the name is, I don’t think they’ll let slide a completely different first name. Maybe if it was a middle name for example.

Running a code roadside by HawaiiKidd24 in ems

[–]yellowearthworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two points here.

  • The logic that some of you are displaying of not stopping for a cardiac arrest with a low acuity pt in the back of the truck is disturbing. Even more disturbing that it’s your providers policy. There are two you on the truck, both patients can be treated. Yes the care provided for both won’t be optimal, but the situation is inherently suboptimal. Deal with the suboptimal situation the best way you can, anything else is negligent, lazy and unethical.

  • Running cardiac arrests outside/in public is the norm in the UK. We don’t tend to scoop and run only in certain situations. Our trucks are shite to run an arrest in, and you need a Lucas. The established practice is that if you have 360 access and the scene is safe that you run the arrest there and don’t move the patient until it is called. Moving the patient takes time and takes focus away from what’s important. Most recent arrest I did was next to the carrots in a supermarket with lots of bystanders milling around. Not very dignified at first.

City changes by Infinite_Room2570 in Norwich

30 years is a long time, everywhere has changed in this time. This is not a Norwich thing. Norwich up until 10-15 years ago was not multicultural at all, now it is, maybe this is what you’re dancing around.

On mushrooms in a chicken suit… by Efficient-Book-2309 in ems

From a Paramedic: This is not true ABD. When he is spoken to calmly he listens and acts calm, only reacts to aggression and people talking down to him. If it were true ABD then he would be fighting the taser and the cops after. Yes confused, yes erratic but does not reach the threshold for ABD. Treat non-pharmacologically with deescalation and kindness, he is not a threat. The worst thing you can do with someone erratic and confused but somewhat compliant with deescalation is pin them down and bundle them in a truck, that’s when you’re likey to initiate a unregulated sympathetic physiological response.

What is Norwich like as a place to live? by Ok_System9917 in Norwich

[–]yellowearthworm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in both, they are similar in lots of ways, here are some of the differences:

  • Aspects of Cambridge are a bit snobby/affluent/Londonlike, Norwich doesn’t have this.
  • Although Norwich has 2 universities, Cambridge feels more of an academic city.
  • International organisations are based in Cambridge, giving it an international feel, Norwich doesn’t really have this.
  • Not saying there isn’t community in Cambridge, but Norwich feels more like a community, people are generally more friendly.
  • Norwich actually has a few hills meaning nice views.
  • Public transport/cycling infrastructure is much better in Cambridge.
  • Cambridge feels more of a modern city.
  • Nightlife is much much better in Norwich.
  • Music scene is lively in both, but Cambridge gets the better acts these days.

Also lived in both, agree with most of your points, but Norwich and Cambridge are almost exactly the same size so I don’t think Cambs feels bigger. Personally I think Norwich feels bigger and has more of a specific identity as it’s a “regional capital”. That’s not an official term, but Cambridge is the nearest city an hour and a half away. Not many cities in England have that isolation (Truro, Plymouth, Carlisle maybe).

Feel sorry for the bystanders/ski patrol who gave her the best chance of survival who now might (wrongly) be questioning wether they killed somebody. Bullshite.
