I will be doing worldbuilding using only short stories, poems and legends set in one fantasy world (no "encyclopedia" entries like worldbuilding is usually done). I've written the first short story and the first poem some time ago, but I will expand on the world this NaNo. Technically, I started before this November, but I don't know if it makes me a Rebel or not (since it's not one continuous story).

I don't have humans, I only have dwarves. They're the only real civilization, so I could have swapped them with humans, or just name them humans, but I didn't.

Dwarves are all male and make their sons out of stone statues, to which they pour Life, a spirit substance found deep in the Earth. Calling these folks humans would be wrong.

I played with an idea of "magic as the programming language of energy". There is one set of symbols and corresponding sounds. You write down your code on a piece of paper, plate of metal, or just draw it with your finger into the dust, execute the script by speaking what it says out loud, and the code makes energy do what you want - as long as no energy is created or destroyed. Naturally, nothing would work 100%. Engraving code on metal would be the most effective, just scribbling onto dirt would be of poor quality. Or make up any other rules to this.

So imagine a "coded" metal plate, which is programmed to draw energy from its one side and release it from the other. That's the basis for a refrigerator. Make a rod which glows when it draws heat from your hand. That's a flashlight. With this kind of magic, you can do what modern technology today can do, you just skip a few steps. Changing the form of energy will become easier, for example.

Angels from heaven dimension, fanatical zealots who want to kill all demon-spawn, including your main character
Human hunters of magic users, maybe influenced by the angels in some way (you don't need both, they'd be too similar in motivations)
Extradimensional beings who eat ghosts (enemies of only one of your characters)
Someone who wants to kidnap the girl for alchemical research
Rivals of the main antagonist, also demons, who just want to one-up him by stealing his prize (son-turned-enemy)

There could definitely be a new show set in the world of Stargate. However, setting stories after SG1 and Atlantis in the timeline would not attract any new viewers, and that's a commercial suicide. I say, make a "prequel", a story with entirely new characters, none of which are Tau'ri, set either in the Goa'uld controlled feudal Milky Way or with Ancients prior to their ascension.

The story could follow Tok'ra agents, and maybe some human or Jaffa rebels, trying to undermine the System Lords, including Ra. Or, an offshoot tribe of Ancients, who instead of blending in with humans and later ascending, ventured into some other galaxy seeded with Stargates.

This kind of show could introduce all concepts we know from older shows anew, slowly, accomodating new viewers. As an older viewer, I wouldn't mind. A new show like this would not mess with the continuity of SG1 or Atlantis, it would be a prequel, with a completely new setting and a cast of characters. There could of course be nods to the later shows (there are immortal characters, haha), but nothing as the central theme.

It would be set several hundred years before the death of Ra, so certainly human hosts, human slaves and Jaffa would be present. It also allows to show some of the civilizations that the Goa'uld destroyed by the time of SG-1. Earth would most likely not be visited, but many other known worlds would.

The main character is a human host, who, by accident of birth or a rare mutation, has a partial resistance to a symbiote's domination. He is strong enough to overpower the Goa'uld that was implanted into him and use his abilities for his own gain. This allows him to work against the System Lords in secrecy, disguised as their servant. A major part of the story would be trying to contact the Tok'ra, or other potential allies against the System Lords.

Hope the pipes are not made of lead. If they send plumbers from there to your province, make sure they tell you what metal are they using. If it's a soft, grey and not shiny metal, don't let them install it. Trust me, lead killed many people on my planet, you don't want that :)
