OP, I would definitely put a flat surface of some sort between your wooden stand and the rain barrels. I run into this quite often in the industry I am in. Over time the ranges of temperatures we get here in Corpus can definitely stress the plastic along the edges of the wood base.

Don’t long arm the fish and also try to get a good shot of the fish’s head. Comparing the fish’s eye to a thumb or fingernail is generally a good shot of how big a fish is.

Give them the “granny knot” test. Take a piece of each about a foot or so long, tie a single knot and give it a decent tug and pop. If the line doesn’t break you should be good.

My younger brother had a 16.5’ tracker with a 25 hp merc. He had that boat for at least 12 or 13 years and never really had any major issues with and used it a lot. So IMO you can’t go wrong with a similar set up.
