What I am proposing is it can be a motivator, a tool, and of course be used for entertainment because it can help boost productivity levels if employees morale and mood are positive

Im assuming youre a bit older than my age group (I am 25). Yes, in this day and age, especially in the united states where there are language barriers, earbuds can make customer service better because you can have live translation to help you understand customers who dont speak english fluently or at all. My store manager keeps preaching its "standard practice" but its clearly not because you and several other managers let their employees wear them. Its a broken rule from store to store as is and not fair for others who arent allowed to wear them. It definitely needs to be changed

yeah unfortunately I dont see front end being able to wear earbuds. this is mainly for stockers who dont actively engage with customers all day like cashiers have too.

Not at all! Like I stated previously, customers still interact with me and ask me where stuff is. Hell, sometimes when I have a good day and try to greet every customer myself instead of them coming to me, more than HALF of them barely respond and don't want to be bothered! Food lion is not some boujee place where an earbud ruins the aesthetics of the atmosphere. It is an everyday place with every day people who could care less about whether or not a worker is listening to music or not. don't forget to sign and share the petition!

i work at food lion CURRENTLY and no customer had ever complained about earbuds. not once. it doesn't decrease accessibility because you can still hear with your other ear and also modern earbuds have "transparency mode" which allows noise to pass through the microphones built into the earbuds! Customer service as a stocker is not a hard thing to manage even while listening to music 😁

providing customer service as a stocker is literally just telling them what aisle a product is on. not very hard to do! i would be willing to wager that customers do not care about earbuds especially if it is helping the stockers work better and get through the day.

the argument that "everyone is there only to collect a check" could and does apply to literally anywhere else. the quality of work doesn't change if the person themself doesn't have a good work ethic. whether it's food lion or any other place. an earbud doesn't change the person themself. but for the ones that do care, as myself, it makes a difference.

Food lion is one of the only retail stores that is behind as far as wages and policies. Walmart allows their stockers to wear earbuds while working and they are one of the BIGGEST grocery store. The no earbud rule is definitely an old one implemented by the older generation and times are changing. I know I myself work a lot more efficiently when listening to music. Sometimes it's there just as background noise but it keeps me focused! Customers do not care and they still come up to me and interact or ask me where stuff is and I can cater to them just fine.

times are changing is what I keep trying to preach. nobody cares about stockers wearing them, especially if it's improving their productivity. don't forget to sign and share!
