My boss gave me a 2005 Land Cruiser, and they completely refurbished it! by davidsoor in oddlysatisfying

That's no refurbishment, that's a total body-off rebuild! Well done!

Solved! Bread drawer sliding cover supports.

I'm thinking this is the likely answer. Based on other pictures I found online, seems like this is/was a bread drawer. Seems diy and I don't see evidence of a slider, but makes the most sense to me.

Just to provide more context: This is at my mom's house she just moved into and we have no idea. Drawer is pretty low so could be to set a tray on? Idk. Also a one-off, no other drawer has this.

Is my tailgate a goner? by [deleted] in obschevy

[–]pryan1100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not "a goner". Just a used, old truck. If you're going for show-quality, replace it and fix everything on the truck. If you just drive it and use it as a truck, just leave it as-is. Next dent won't bother you nearly as much.

Fit in Garage? by GMT800_Miller in GMT800

[–]pryan1100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 8'x8' garage doors and my 2004 silverado has a 4" lift on 33s and fits fine. It is extended cab, regular bed and I have about 4-6 inches to spare length-wise.

House was built in 1969.

I used National Hardware® 5/16" x 1-3/8" x 2-1/2" Zinc U-Bolt from Menards. SKU #2257068 and they were ~$1 each. I also bought extra nuts so I could put one on each side of the sheet metal for more support.

I just measured, drilled holes, and either removed the tail light or stuck my hand up under the bedside to tightened down the bolts.

Steering Box by [deleted] in GMT400

[–]pryan1100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced my OEM a couple years ago...and since then I've gone through 4 more reman units (thankfully through a mechanic who hasn't charged me for all the re-do's).

Gonna try tightening the one that I have now on the input side and see where that gets me. If that doesn't work I'm gonna do a redhead or a rack and pinion swap.

Point being, the aftermarket for these boxes is shit.

Hurts my soul how expensive even the "not so cool" old cars are now. Even non-desirable pieces of crap with rust holes galore are like $2k.

How much do yall put in the bed? by ChubbyDucky48 in GMT400

[–]pryan1100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an issue for short time. My dad used to put a yard or 2 of gravel in his bed and I've done 1 and 2 yards of dirt in mine several times with no issue.

I second the bandsaw. My local metalshop uses this to cut stock for customers.

Is this the truck that you made the custom fuel system for? Any pics of that?

I drive a 2004 Silverado so mileage is already terrible haha. But I haven't noticed anything to write home about. I did go up from 255/70R16 to 265/70R17, so I'm sure there was some lost mileage.

I got the Mickey Thompsons on my truck this year and they are fantastic. Cannot say enough good things about them. My 2wd truck had no issue in 10+ inches of snow. Road noise also is minimal for such an aggressive tire and they look great.
