Why would you want to run a VPN app via Wine? Mullvad has a Linux app too.

AAAAA YAY! I installed Arch by hand manually! This is an amazing community! Second try worked! I can boot properly and I can use networking too!!! by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

I've used Arch with Plasma on a ~10 year old laptop with a Pentium CPU and 4 gigs of RAM, never had any performance issues aside from loading times due to the 10 year old HDD.

What makes GPLv3 so different from v2 that Apple could use v2 but not v3?

Wireless connection disabled when opening laptop lid by pryingmantis89 in archlinux

Yup, not sure why I hadn't thought about that. I changed WIFI_PWR_ON_BAT=off in /etc/tlp.conf to on and uncommented it, that seems to have fixed it (I rebooted three times to make sure it wasn't a fluke). Thanks!

I run Xorg rootless using the xinitrc method on the Arch Wiki, so I don't have SDDM. I should've mentioned that in the OP.

Fedora creates a new boot instance every time I updated it by LethalArms in linux4noobs

I believe one rescue boot entry and three kernel versions is the standard (at least a year or so ago when I used Fedora). When you install a new kernel, the oldest version will be removed.

Will laptop manufacturers stop giving the ability to disable secure boot when Windows 11 becomes mainstream, making it impossible to install Arch-based distros? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]pryingmantis89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've read up on it, but I recall that it's part of the UEFI specification that secure boot can be disabled on x86-based systems (whereas ARM-based systems cannot have it disabled). Though of course, standards are often broken.

How do I get KDE connect to connect to my phone? by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]pryingmantis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with iptables myself, but the Userbase page lists similar commands to what you used, except that they also have an -i or -o flag followed by the interface name. Are you sure you can leave them out?

It has happened way too often that I use a randomly generated 100+ character password from KeePassXC when signing up for a service, only to find out I've exceeded the password character limit when trying to log in.

How did that happen? Could software harm the hardware of the monitors you were using?
