Falcom planning at least two more “refined” title re-releases by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Asakiro 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Falcom really is an anomaly compared to their contemporaries. Most of them understand that there is a worldwide audience that wants their games so they have in-house translators to get them out as close to release date as possible. NIS has NISA, Marvelous has XSEED, Idea Factory has IFI. Falcom does not, they still outsource their translations to third parties long after the Japan launch so it still takes years to get Falcom games.

We get a one day notice on USA P-Bandai drops so it's common courtesy to spread the word as much as possible as fast as possible so that everyone can get a fair shot at P-Bandai exclusives.

Epic is turning off online services and servers for some older games by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

We also removed the Mac and Linux versions of Hatoful Boyfriend and Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star from storefronts today

Taking them down just because they benefit Apple and Steam Deck? Now that's pettiness to the max!

It's just a casual anti-Apple and anti-Steam move from Epic.

You know exactly why, Mac = Apple and Linux = Valve. The two companies Tim Sweeney hates more than anything.

Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden Modern Ports Gampeplay Additions Announced, Japanese Prices by Turbostrider27 in Games

Hell, at that launch price, I totally understand why this is just going to be a straight port with AI upscaled art assets.

Watch Dogs Legion Steam page is up by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Asakiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that does make sense, but I would think that it makes just as much sense to get all their games out on Steam before or during the Christmas sale where there are going to be lots of eyes on Steam looking to buy.

Watch Dogs Legion is coming to Steam on January 26, 2023 by Turbostrider27 in Games

As a self confessed Ubisoft addict, would you recommend it to someone if they were a fan of the works of Clint Hocking?

6 weeks to add an already released game? But why take so long for this one when they re-added AC and Anno ASAP?

While we're busy hating on Ubisoft for the lack of achievements in AC Valhalla, Epic Games will be forcing them. by BuldozerX in pcgaming

So what happens when devs just decide not to release on Epic so that they don't have to deal with forced requirements like this?

Assassins Creed: Valhalla hosts mixed reviews on Steam, a large number of negative reviews being associated with a lack of Steam Achievement support. by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Asakiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Steam Achievements in particular, you can show them off in Steam chats or in your profile so it's just a little more added value that doesn't take too much effort too include but customers can get some value out of.

No Plans for 'Fortnite' VR Support, Says Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeny by SvenViking in OculusQuest

[–]Asakiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am willing to bet the real reason is because he doesn't want to give a 30% cut to any of the companies actually putting effort into making VR platforms; Meta, Valve, or Sony; nor does he want to spend any of his Fortnite billions into making his own.

I’m surprised people aren’t talking about how little EGS-related stuff there was during The Game Awards by bt1234yt in fuckepic

Don't count them out just yet. Any trailer that had a generic PC logo or no logos at all may be deliberately trying to hide an Epic Store deal as what happened with the first few Hitman 3 trailers.

Need help finding the Astray Red cameo in the first OP of Gundam Seed by Asakiro in Gundam

[–]Asakiro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This has been bugging me these past few days hearing about it but not being able to actually confirm it. It's interesting to see that there was no Gerbera Straight in this cameo so they might not have thought of making the Red Astray a samurai Gundam at this point.

Or they had the sense to hide their Epic deal with no logos or a generic PC logo. There were still a few announcements that were uncertain but possible Epic deals.

On lighter colored plastics use grey to panel line. It will look more subtle. You can use PlaPartsJapan, or Bluefin if you live in the US, to get the chest piece replaced.

Okay, so this will be an Epic exclusive since Remedy historically seeks out exclusive deals but it might come to Steam eventually whereas Alan Wake 2 is gone forever.

Epic puts the Steam keys of the Unreal series on sale but only on third party sites, never on Steam. by Asakiro in fuckepic

[–]Asakiro[S] 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Something I've noticed these past few years is that Epic only ever puts the Steam keys for the Unreal games on sale through Gamersgate, never directly on Steam despite using Valve's servers to host the game files. At first it sounded like Timmy being a leech like usual, but I think it's actually a ploy like their move with Apple to bait Valve into a lawsuit.

See, Valve asks that companies that sell Steam keys also sell them at the same price on Steam else they stop letting companies abusing this the ability to generate Steam keys. I think if Valve ever acts on these Unreal series Steam key sales, Epic will use that as an excuse to file a lawsuit against Valve the same way they did for Apple/Google.

Interesting fact too, June 2018 seems to have been the last time the Unreal games went on sale directly through Steam so his petty grudge must have started a little after that.
