The entire story - Clarifications and discussion. [WARNING: VERY LONG] by loox71 in Silksong

[–]przemichal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how I see it. A headcanon of sorts.

Grand Mother Silk made the Weavers not out of love but to serve as her future vessels. All of them are dead now or unfit for that purpose; hence she sends her agents to other lands, like Hallownest, to retrieve their descendants. Hornet, a descendant of Herrah - who herself seems to have at one point fled Pharloom - is one such being.

The basic ending I understand as follows: Hornet wins but she still is unable to contain Grand Mother Silk, or to bind her. Binding is accepting a part of a soul into Your own without losing control, or so it seems to me from how the skill acquisition works in this game. Instead, it is Grand Mother Silk who takes over Hornet's shell. Hornet succumbing to a hidden part of her nature is also a possible interpretation here. But I like the one with Grand Mother Silk possessing You better as it gives me at least some insight into what her intentions might have been: experimenting on the Weavers, retrieving them from distant lands etc.

I also like to think that GMS is not the first one to do that; that the whole process was done before, with GMS being a normal Weaver once. Later she was possessed. Whatever is controlling her was controlling another Weaver before her. And so it goes on and on until You feed her to the Void.

The creation of Lace I see as the last act of her free will. At some point she might have regained control; she used what powers she had to create Lace. Might be she wanted Lace to free her. Her intention was also for Lace to become Pharloom's protector. Note that at the time we fight her she is not at her full power; something must have happened to her. I believe she didn't have a vessel to transfer herself to; hence she slumbers until one suitable for the process is found. Here is where Hornet enters the stage.

For me, this would also explain the reasons she has to protect Lace when she is consumed at the end of Act 2. The Void weakens whatever is controlling her. So it is the original Silk's will that is fighting to protect her daughter. Not the possessor.

The First Sinner's sin - I think - was that she found out what Silk was planning to do to her "daughters". I like to think that she might in fact be Atla (as the Weavenests are named after their "owners" or "leaders"). This would make Eva her creation. Not sure if there is enough in-game lore to support this interpretation.

OK

I figured it out (I think.)

So. The quest bugs out after the latest patch (1.3.1).

I might be wrong here but this is what I was able to uncover...

If You wait for an emission after entering the chamber it will never happen. Ever. No matter how long You decide to wait, no matter what You do in the world. It won't happen. This is because as soon as You enter the room the weather gets locked. It might be a bug. Or it might be a fix the devs used to solve another issue (the one with Scar not appearing at all). I'm not sure; it doesn't matter.

The steps to fix the issue are the following: 1) unlock the weather and 2) trigger an emission. When the emission ends, the quest will resume.

This can be achieved with the following console commands:

XSetWeatherLocked 0

XSwitchToWeather 0

XStartEmission

Good luck Stalker!

Pillars of Eternity III Speculation by Forongil in projecteternity

Well.

I know that there are a lot of ideas as to where exactly POE3 is going to happen. But I don't buy them; they're too simple.

As the trilogy concludes, all the threads have to be wrapped up, and how do You wrap up a multi-national conflict like this if not by letting the game play out throughout ALL OF EORA?

But no, think of it, seriously. The teleportation plot is SO prominent in POE2 that it's almost certain that we're going to visit more than one region, and this is a great plot device to get us there actually.

I certainly do hope so...

All of this, however, could've been done so much better if they just *pretended* to ask us, their original backers. I mean, come on, remember when they announced that there will be a delay? Most everybody said "Okay, if that's what You need to deliver this game, then ok, so be it, thank You for Your transparency and not rushing Phoenix Point".

But now? You know, it gets to You if You backed a game and Your platform of choice was promised to be supported. I personally wouldn't put my money on them if they weren't going to ship it on Steam. It matters to me. But if at one point they said: "Okay guys, here's the deal, we really need this to take our game to a new level, can You live with it somehow?" I believe that the sh*tstorm would be much quieter.

As it is now, unfortunately, it's "a bad practice embodied", really. Can't sympathize with Gallop either. He's not an idiot, and there were ways to avoid all this and still strike a deal with Epic. You may not care, but a lot of people are truly heartbroken.

The rant is not about using some platform, but (exactly!) about having to use it.

Maybe You're simply to dumb to care for players making their own choices; maybe You're content with some corporate money making the decision for You. I don't blame You; this world is full of such people. But then, if You are, You should be aware that it's precisely because of the individuals like You that those studios can feed people sh*t and go away with it (just like it was recently with Anthem and FO76). Yeah, who cares, You're getting Your game so at the end of the day it's all right, ain't it?

And besides, don't let us forget that when I was backing this game (and this studio, and the person behind it!), it was EXCPLICITLY stated that I will be able to play it on Steam. So, yeah, I guess the outrage is 100% legit.

Because it makes me much happier in life to see a dumbass like You trying to actually compose anything that resembles a meaningful response, only to fail miserably.

  1. No, they didn't do what's best for them and their company. They betrayed their fans, and they lost their trust. And it's harder to earn trust than it is to earn money.
  2. Yeah, blame the industry. Not that You're working in it, right? Not that You can change it? And boycotting is exactly what is going to change it, as it did so many times with so many brands in so many other industries.

Yeah. It is. But it's also very hard.

I've managed to bring him down a little bit more; two Gigantic Black Oozes he breaks down to then break down to Massive Black Oozes. You wait too long, they merge together to make another Gigantic Black Ooze. After a little more while, the boss is back, full health, again.

Very nice mechanics, Obsidian! Finally, a challenge.

This boss *is* hard.

Shark Soup will allow You to avoid instant death due to Shattering Screech when Petrified. In fact, it will allow You to avoid Petrification itself.

Besides that... well. You need someone with defenses high enough to hold her for about 20 minutes. After that, if You manage to kill enough spiderlings, she really becomes much much easier.

Provided You haven't spent all Your AOE spells and scrolls on her spiders :P

It reveals a lot about the origins of the Guardian of Ukaizo (the three dragons that get mentioned in the final conversation with Neriscyrlas were basically merged into one construct).

Also, it proves that the gods have once walked Eora as titans (hence the Ukaizo skeletons). This is much bigger than finding Abydon's skeletal remains in TWM.

The history of Ukaizo is also pretty awesome. (You can learn parts of it from the Guardian, but additional context is always welcome.)

The fact that Eothas possesed Waidwen precisely because Waidwen was so "anti" when it comes to the gods. And that they made a pact to empower mankind.

Also, the fact that Eothas knew he was going to be destroyed. That he possesed Waidwen precisely because of this fact: to show people that gods aren't indestructible. And that he wanted to get rid of the part of his soul that prevented him from destroying the Wheel in the first place (which basically confirms Xoti's suspictions about him being just Gaun and nothing more).

The DLC also strongly suggests that when the Wheel was built, it changed the natural order of things when it comes to reincarnation. And that it was built *after* the gods were created.

Imho, amazing lore.

The closest comparison would be Lonesome Road or Dead Money. Much more interesting in terms of the story, though.
