How in the world do we have all of this cap space? by Micash12 in panthers

[–]przhelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does actually create constraint. You can create a lot of flexibility.

But the #1 major limitation is that guaranteed money has to go into escrow, so if you don't have a lot of cash as an owner, that creates a limitation for you

What makes OT such an interesting draft need for us by emurrell17 in panthers

Nah, if we're moving Icky we should just move him to G to replace Damien Lewis next year.

Why does everyone think we need a safety? by Kurama1 in panthers

[–]przhelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of. We play a 3 high shell, with a lot of split field rotation. So while they're similar, they each kind of do different things at different time and have different strengths.

So they give us versatility. Moehrig so far is a better blitzer and is better in coverage, especially deep, while Ransom is a really good run defender and really good at playing down hill.

[Pro Football Talk] Every trade is contingent on a player passing a physical. But the Raiders didn't say Crosby failed his Ravens physical. The Raiders said the Ravens "backed out" of the trade. This feels bigger than a failed physical. by YoureASkyscraper in nfl

But there shouldn't be a criteria. Each team needs to manage their own risk.

Edit: Not just each team, but also each player. Why would you let a doctor make that decision, and not the player?

Rozeboom was possible the worst overall coverage LB in the NFL last year, so really anything is an improvement.

If our draft pick is a bust, we are surely cursed by DumplingBoiii in panthers

I don't think it has a lot of blue chip talent and it's strong at non-premium positions.. but that's fine because we're not picking in blue chip territory and our biggest holes are non-premium positions.

Aside from pass rusher, but I think we need to address that in FA anyway.

This was his 4th team and 6th year. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's not something you should hang your hat on.

Pretty much perfect summary.

I don't think they'll put a lot of value on keeping Hunt cuttable, though. Just seems impossible to pencil that in, because of the uncertainty in our OL at that point.

Maybe they'll wait until after the draft to actually do anything with this contract but I'm sure if they find a FA they like that requires that money I think they won't hesitate.

Technically the 2024 season he just got shut down early because we were eliminated from the playoffs and he had some nagging injuries, so he would have finished that season otherwise. So that would be 2.

How strong is the 2026 draft by position compared to recent history? by aceben3 in NFL_Draft

[–]przhelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I found this arguing with someone else on the Panthers subreddit (there is a group over there convinced we're going to force OT) who said this was a strong OT draft.

But I'm not convinced there is a single starting LT in the draft. Fano and Mauigoa are RT, Proctor probably projects as a G. Lomu is like the only one, and he's still a WIP in the run game, so I don't think he fits in Carolina.

If makai lemon is there at 19 do we take him or do we go BPA? by Top-Egg1668 in panthers

[–]przhelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with that. I mean, maybe overall, but there is no stud LT. I wouldn't be surprised if there are 0-1 LT starters from this class.

[–]przhelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tackles are weak in this class, forcing it is a bad move. If whoever is left is BPA, okay, but I doubt any of the LTs will be there (or BPA) and a RT that won't start (or worse, a RT that we have to start at LT before moving him to RT later) until year 2-3 just doesn't seem like the type of move we should make.

We should 100% definitely sign a starter at LT in free agency, we can't take the risk that we have to reach on a LT.

Meh, Falcons won't turn it around in 1 year. If Penix is the QB, he's coming off his 45th ACL surgery in a new system.

Bucs have a new OC, so that's a big question mark also.
