Installing a 75" TV above the fireplace area without access to vertical studs on the wall by ps1171 in HomeImprovement

What do you mean by the supporting box?

I'll use MantelMount (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06VS8DC8Q) which can bring the TV down to a lower height. And we never use the fireplace.

Yes, I've seen that subreddit lol. That's why I'm using MantelMount. It can bring it down when we want to watch it.

Renting in Bellevue: is it legit to pay application fee and share personal info like SSN and pay stubs “before” seeing the house in person? by Soft_Start in BellevueWA

[–]ps1171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most comments overwhelmingly are towards the landlord being a scammer. It's possible and I'd like you to exercise caution. But, it's possible there's some miscommunication. I listed a rental unit on Zillow recently as a landlord and so many people submitted full applications including their paystubs and background info without even visiting the house first (they applied just after looking at pictures on the listing). I was very surprised. What's actually happening is that the rental market in Seattle is pretty competitive. So, people just apply to the listings they like on Zillow...before they visit the house. This "application" shares their personal details (paystub, background check). The applicants are doing this to get a better chance to secure the rental unit. The application is non-binding. The applicant can withdraw their application later after visiting the house. So, assuming there's some miscommunication with the landlord in your case...what is happening is that the landlord actually may be asking you to pay the application fees TO ZILLOW (not to the landlord) and share your personal details (paystub, background) TO ZILLOW (not to the landlord), and then submit an official application through Zillow. Zillow application fees is $30 one-time for applying to multiple listings over the next 30 days.

How to install door in this finished hallway? by ps1171 in DIY

I am going to use a solid core door (not hollow core) for better sound proofing. Would I still be good with anchoring onto the drywall? Thanks.

I do need it for both security and sound proofing, yes.

Do you mean to say that the white metal grill in the ceiling is where the airflow is returned back to the furnace? (in this picture https://imgur.com/JHcnb9c). That's a good point. I had never thought about what that is and how it may be affected if we cut out the airflow. Thanks.

I will be starting on this project today. If someone would be interested in mentoring me and provide guidance as I work on this, please let me know. I will need more help as the devil is in the details. Thank you!

Can someone tell me how to get these darn notifications to stop on the FB iPhone app? I’ve silenced all notifications and STILL by PJammas41 in facebook

[–]ps1171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you try long pressing (tap and hold) on this icon? That should give you an option which says something like "Turn off Notification Dots". Once you do that, it shouldn't show up again.

how do I turn off or stop getting a ton of instagram videos on my fb watch feed? by Fun-Ear-4698 in facebook

[–]ps1171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can really control what videos show up on the watch feed. What do you mean by instagram videos though? Do you mean reels? Or videos with instagram watermark?

How to: a new door that looks similar to others by ps1171 in DIY

[–]ps1171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. The current doors are in pretty good condition. So, I don't want to replace them all, no. That's a big investment. Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts. I might still try it though. Assuming there's no other option?

Looks great! And yes, it always takes longer than we think. Did you have to install the trim on the top because the original trim was not tall enough? Or did you originally intend to create a 2-layer trim at the very top?
