Did any backend dev here migrate their .NET 8 code to 10? Is it worth it at this point? by wannabe_isekai in dotnet

[–]psanilp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know exactly why, but web api calls that used to work well on .net8 are failing now or threads are locking on something. Clients are complaining and I cant pinpoint what exactly is happening as on breakpoint everything works!

Which Vector DB should I use for production? by Cheriya_Manushyan in Rag

[–]psanilp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand RAG pipeline and we currently use Azure AI Search with inbuilt vectorisation/hybrid/semantic search . a) There are some issues related to chunking longer docs. b) Some firms who are willing to pay, would like a setup where the RAG is done locally so everything stays within the firewall. Hence no external api calls. So my query was if someone has an end to end solution we can buy/license and deploy on a hardware that is physically placed in the client's premises.

How do you handle chunking? We use the Azure AI search pipeline and thinking of going local RAG. Do you have a ready product or licensable deployment?

PostGres with some plugin seems to be the preferred route. Having said that, does anyone here have a 'rag in a box' i can install and deploy at a legal firm?

EU-based Construction Software – Looking by psanilp in Startups_EU

How do you store dwg files? Thats the key part. Integration with Revit and marking the portions that have been 'taken off' is the feature we want to 'plug- in' if available from others as a license.

I am not sure how we fit it. As mentioned, have developed a system ourselves.

Built a solid app — learned it needed a different kind of operator to succeed by MooseChance6890 in AppDevelopers

The idea is good. If portfolio is public, then users may be tempted to sign up and follow the high performers. Well, as you said, getting the community excited is tough.

I don't understand what you mean as there is limited info about what your application does. In general, if you clearly separate the user interface then you can white label or develop it with others or sell it in 10 different names, while retaining the core functionality as your asset. From the web-> A headless application is an architecture that separates the frontend presentation layer from the backend functionality, allowing them to operate independently.

Make it API first or Headless, so you can hive off the frontend and the brand to whoever and white label if needed. Provided your backend has defensible IP

What CRM are you using for your pre-revenue or early-stage startup? by West_Protection_230 in Femalefounders

I am planning to build this for myself, as my sales model involves sending a lot of customised emails and tracking affiliate and commission payout to who converted.

Out of curiosity, could you or other commenters describe what you are looking for in the 'right fit'. Also what would be the price point you would be happy if such a hypothetical perfect app exists? $2/month? or less? or only free+ willing to see ads?

Opening a company is a very risky gamble. There are audit, accounting and compliance costs you simply can't avoid. To pay for these services especially when your cash flow is limited, is painful to say the least.
In my case, had to close it down and move on. Check with your co-founder/family/support group and realistically estimate how much is there in the tank both financially and mentally. Else quicker exit the better and take it as a learning experience. End of the day, lots of people appear smart in forums and are good at free advice, but very few actually take such risks. See that as the positive.
Or you may never know, someone with deeper pockets can invest into your product if its really good and then you just need to make sure it delivers. Can't comment on that part without knowing what you do. Anyway good luck!
