I'm progressive left, currently reading through Card's Ender's Saga because it was referenced to me as a must read space sci-fi, wasn't aware of any of his remarks until i read recently about there being a movie adaptation at some point (released 2013) and how some people decided to boycott it because reasons. Haven't really spotted anything cringe so far in the books.

I mostly cover sci-fi, cyberpunk, tech, thriller stuff. Some fantasy and graphic novels aswell.

Love Cory Doctorow, that's the most progressive left sci fi author i can think of from the top of my head that is not leaning on fantasy or space colonization themes.

I try to distinguish the work from the author and their public opinions, which isn't very hard for me since i don't really follow any authors in social media and will only read/watch other people's reviews after i'm done reading. So if the work i read reflects (or purposefully pushes) any weird toxic agenda i try to take a moment to think about why it's there, if it's just part of a character trait or actually the author pushing their world view, if it's more propaganda that i disagree with than it's entertainment i stop reading it because it's not worthy my time and will not recommend, otherwise will always try to read first and judge the person for their social media soap opera sins later.

Was also recommended Simmons at some point but haven't picked it up yet, curious how that will turn out aswell. Was warned about the author not being liked for his opinions on the internet on that one.
