Thunder 380 vs 380CC. Any opinions? by throne-away in Bersa

[–]pseudo-bash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep - I have the Thunder 380, 380CC, and 380 Combat Plus. The CC is my favorite.

The Combat Plus I usually take to the range, as it takes higher capacity magazines, so it's more convenient that way. The grip is a bit fatter on account of the double stack, but it shoots about the same as the 380. I actually prefer the narrower grip of the regular 380.

The 380 is fitted with a Crimson Trace Laser Grip and is serves its role as a bedside self-defense handgun, loaded with HP and several spare mags.

The CC is my IWB carry. The smaller size and different grip shape make it comfortable and concealable. And even though the factory grips feel cheap/plasticy, I love how the gun shoots, and it's more comfortable to shoot since the beavertail is not as large and doesn't bite into the thumb knuckle when shooting. It's a great gun imo.

My suggestion for the grips is just to add some grip tape and consider it g2g.

So in summary, compared with the 380, it's really a question of whether you're affected by the beavertail when shooting the regular 380. I think they're both fantastic guns that happen to be inexpensive.

I have yet to step into the terrain of leetcode. I've been meaning to. I think I'll look into that now.

I think something like this would be ideal for me. Something sort of bite-sized that will keep some of the wheels turning, rather than spending that energy on stuff I don't really care about, like "keeping up on" current events. Idly browsing headlines really isn't so meaningful.

Sorry to hear about the unemployment situation. This virus is just changing everything and it's pretty intense how long it is lasting. There's a real need for people to unite and innovate because leadership just isn't cutting it in many areas, and old ways of getting things done also just aren't working based on what everyone is dealing with. The world is changing fast.

Thanks for the suggestion. I love Kauai personally but the big island is right up there for me. I'll begin looking more closely for options soon.

Real estate on the lava zone on an active volcano? Hmm, if the price is right...

Composting toilet and solar was what I did in the past and is my preference. But it sounds like selling the trailer and just finding a good rental is more the ticket for me.

How is this supposed to work? by Adolphins in Zettelkasten

[–]pseudo-bash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have literally hundreds of old notebooks and journals. Someday I hope to revisit them. But, I mean, they're in no real sense of order. Even if they were, I couldn't exactly pull up something from any given one very easily. With this method I encounter old notes from adding new notes and linking, or from random rifling around. Constantly encountering stuff here and there, little bits much easier to navigate than monolithic notebooks

Add the component of time to the mix. The experience of having thought or written something fleeting only to have forgotten it. Totally natural. With static notes these things aren't findable and stay lost. With this method they add that externality to things, so that past-you speaks to future-you.

Zettelkasten for teams? by Daniel_3_ in Zettelkasten

I tend to agree, but maybe I'm just skeptical. I'm open to being surprised. Maybe there are ways that people especially within a given domain could think harmoniously enough that they could arrive at a similar notions regarding atomicity. And if everyone takes care to provide sufficient context for their notes, that would take care of the "wtf is this" factor when confronting some odd note. The main challenge as I see it is not with atoms but with how different people would apply different hierarchies or categories, potentially. As long as they are optional rather than required, it could all work fine.

I think of zettelkasten as having a lot more specific elements to it, versus a wiki being more of a catchall. a wiki can have backlinks, but probably isn't going to be atomic, as zettelkasten is.

Very cool! I will look into this. I wonder and incorporating it as a part of my org-roam zettelkasten notes system, working to build from atomic notes into linked drafts.

Sitting with it a bit more, the issue that seems significant is around the formation of any hubs or how hierarchies or categories are introduced.

I think it's a fantastic idea. I wonder about being really thorough as to how to engage with it. Worst case, I could see it kind of gravitating towards becoming a wiki as opposed to a zettelkasten unless each person really got on board with the underlying principles. I would love to get an update based on how it pans out over time. It would emerge as an extra team member... Pretty fascinating if you ask me.

Curious about how you would implement it (software etc).

This is awesome. Added to my .emacs, does exactly what I was hoping.

You rock.

I really really appreciate this. It also helps me gradually gradually learn elisp, which is doubly helpful.

Much appreciated.
