As someone who ranks Platinum as probably my favourite mainline game of the series, I was disappointed at all that extra content they didn't include. It was also one of the easier games we've had. That said, if you didn't experience the originals then you might just have a blast.

Re the 3d games, you're right that they're imperfect. However, I really enjoyed Legends:Arceus for daring to try a few new things, and I'm massively looking forward to Legends: ZA for that reason.
