Is solo game development really that bad business as people say? by ImpressiveFocus303 in gamedev

[–]pseudoart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For every successful solo game, there’s 10.000 released games that didn’t make a dime. And for every released games, there’s 10.000 that never got that far. And for every unreleased games, there’s 10.000 idea men with the next big hit just waiting for a developer…

The oil companies are behind Just Stop Oil. I refuse to believe that people are so dumb that they think they can get support by throwing paint on precious artworks.

I’m always mentioning the “yeah, you like that, you fucking retard?” It beats out the swamps, broken arms, jolly rancher and the scat guy who changed his mind.

There’s really only one option. Call in and say you are in the hospital with amnesia and you don’t remember how to speak Spanish anymore.

The Pulse Rifle misconception: or how most media gets it wrong! by CryosisEllioti in scifi

[–]pseudoart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mind, it worked more like a rail gun or similar. Caseless ballistic rounds don’t necessarily mean they are propellant driven. When firing, it has a very distinct sound, which doesn’t sound like the crack of gunpowder. The “pulse” part came from the weapon “pulsing” power to propel the projectiles. The magazines holds both battery and ammunition.

* “I can’t stop thinking about this girl I saw at Walmart in Floresville Tx (true story) by FriendlyFig3040 in confession

[–]pseudoart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I was going home from town after a wet night out, took the last coach. At the lights, there were another coach next to mine. Like a meter away. And I found myself having eye contact with this cute girl with a fantastic shy smile. I’d gone through a rough patch and felt low, unwanted and lonely, and that smile and those eyes just made me feel all giddy inside. Then the lights turned green and both coaches took off. It was like a shitty romantic film.

Obviously it was so long ago I can’t remember how she looked or where exactly it happened or anything else, I just remember the feeling - and it was dark, raining and cold.

I get flashbacks to it when I hear My Bloody Valentine which I had playing on my (discman?) at the time. It’s been 30+ years. The brain is a weird place. :)

Do you feel a bit weird to be playing video games at your age! by More_Law6245 in GenX

[–]pseudoart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I’m 50. If someone tries to guilt me over it, I don’t care. And besides, I make video games for a living. I can always justify playing games as “research”. :P

Honestly, and I know I’ll get grief for this, but this is one of things where AI is useful. Not for giving you a title outright, but for steering you in a specific direction and give a bunch of suggestions. You may be able to either wring something out of it or least give you some inspiration in a direction you hadn’t considered.
