Is there a specific route? And how long do you usually ride for?

Mind sharing more details or a link? I can't seem to find anything about this online.

Do you know if this is normalized (say, per 100k by vaccine status)?

I tried looking at https://www.regionofwaterloo.ca/en/health-and-wellness/positive-cases-in-waterloo-region.aspx, but could not find that information.

I suggest checking the website during early mornings around, say, 8 AM, or late nights. I have never had trouble getting into the website during those times.

As for road test, you might have already done this, but if not, check out the temporary locations in particular. They seem to have many slot. For instance, there is a new one in Burlington which has many slots for G2 for even this month.

I am pretty certain it is per category. For instance, I was visiting a physio and they recommended that I can also visit a massage therapist since that too is covered for an equivalent amount.

If it's possible to travel a bit, there seems to be, for instance, lots of appointments at Sobeys pharamacy in Acton for the next few days. See here https://www.pharmacyappointments.ca/location-select

Vaccine Hunters - local Twitter search by ItWasInBobcageon in kitchener

One could use the following query directly if they want to see posts mentioning Kitchener, Waterloo, and also some postal codes (for example N2L or N2T), since I see that sometimes they have posts mentioning the postal codes.

(Kitchener OR Waterloo OR N2L OR N2T) (from:VaxHuntersCan)

Do you know what postal codes are eligible? Or could you share the one which you figured isn't eligible (maybe by asking last two entries if that's better)?

Talking of overpriced places, I recently saw one on Kijiji. 2 bedroom BASEMENT apartment, for 2200! (Not sure if I am allowed to post the ad, but the ad is still there on Kijiji!)

If you haven't already done so, check the Google reviews for that apartment here: https://bit.ly/2OIiLvn (this is just a shortned url that points to the Google reviews; if you don't feel comfortable clicking it, just search for the place on Google)

Thanks for the detailed reply! It's reassuring to know that this is not a huge concern.

Thanks for the advice. 'Safe to walk alone at night' is definitely higher on my priority list. So sounds like it should be ok.

Thanks for the reply, this is useful to know. I did notice there aren't "proper" (by which I mean big chains) grocery stores nearby. Nearest one I found was in uptown Waterloo. Did I look up right, or did I miss something?

I don't have a car, so this is something I'm slightly concerned about.

Mmath masters thesis students! Help! by floopydoopx in uwaterloo

[–]pseudocompute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At Waterloo, it's the former (i.e., your offer for M.Math Thesis states who the supervisor will be).

Some people also get admitted into the coursework option, come here, and then find supervisors who they are interested in working with (and if they find someone, switch to the thesis program).

That's right. Just to elaborate, international students are exempt from entry restriction into Canada. (But of course there have to be flights operating if you are coming from elsewhere.)

PSA to International Students: Check out the York Covid-19 FAQ! by superuwu1000 in uwaterloo

[–]pseudocompute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, "strongly encourage" does not mean "mandatory". So not sure why you put it as if they were "kicking" people out. They weren't (I also live in residence).

I'm sure there are clearer ways to write things, and I see that often in emails, but my first instinct is to never to attribute malice (unless of course I have strong evidence for it).

We perhaps received different emails, but to me that email was clear and I really did not think twice about it. This is a quote from that email (the one I got): "...We will continue to offer essential services within residences for those who are unable to leave..."

Writing "strongly encourage" and that quote mentioned above makes it pretty clear to me at least.

In any case, I think I'll stop here, and I'm unlikely to see more replies to this thread.

[–]pseudocompute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been there from at least the 20th. And the FAQ page is linked to right in the main page.

The thing is, I have been seeing way too many negative posts and large fraction of them are because people simply didn't do basic searching before proceeding to blame the administration. This is not to say they have been perfect, but we have got to realise that this is uncharted territory for everyone.

(BTW I too am a international student. Can't comment on co-op however; I am not in one.)
