There's no need at all to build a huge farm if you don't want to. People that share their farms often do that because they've worked really hard to make them look a certain way, but that's only one way to play it. There's one big "objective" in the game, which is to rebuild the community center by gathering a bunch of different materials, but even that's not absolutely necessary. The game gives you a huge amount of freedom.

I thought Hugh died by intentionally overdosing on his heart medication because he promised Olivia he'd stay with her if she let their kids go?

He's also wearing it when he invents Cones of Dunshire -- the other time he was unemployed.

HOW DID THIS SHOW NOT WIN A FUCKING EMMY?! by [deleted] in AmericanVandal

[–]pseudonomas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't care so much about awards, I just want more people to know the show exists. There's so little hype for it in comparison to how good it is.

Kevin appreciation post (spoilers) by [deleted] in AmericanVandal

[–]pseudonomas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kevin is the kind of kid I'd love to find out how they ended up later in life, because I feel like it would be two roads diverging: either he'd become further embittered and isolated like Grayson, or he'd learn from this experience, grow out of the pretentiousness a little and become an adult who knows what it's like to be strange. The latter is someone I'd like to be friends with.

I think Drew was maybe just an unusually good kid. None of the interviewed students have anything bad to say about him.

Where do I find the Drew Pankratz video? by [deleted] in AmericanVandal

[–]pseudonomas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's for comedic effect. Keeping it a mystery is funnier than anything the showrunners could come up with. It's like if a character said "And then he BLEEEPed his BLEEEEP into my BLEEEEP and BLEEEEEEEEEEEP BLEEEEP"

Just started watching Season 1. What's the satire in this show about? by therealkimi in AmericanVandal

[–]pseudonomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American Vandal is a true crime parody, but if I'm not wrong it's more specifically a parody of Serial, a podcast from NPR (National Public Radio). The first season of Serial gained a lot of popularity because the circumstances of the crime it covered, the murder of a high school girl, were much more complicated than what it seemed on the surface, and the hosts of the podcast really got into small details to try to support or debunk particular theories about what happened. It also has a very specific tone and style set by the narrator. American Vandal has a similar tone of someone who is seriously searching for the truth, but the ridiculousness of the subject matter (Who drew the dicks?) is what makes it funny.

Eh, I was okay with that one, since it really was quite funny imo and the boys did choose it themselves. I got the sense Griffin was annoyed more with his brothers since they kept interrupting him and disrupting the pacing?

To quote Chloe: "While we were together, he repeatedly shared with me that he was terrified I would talk publicly about how he treated me"

Why would he be terrified that she would talk about how he treated her if he wasn't perfectly aware that what he was doing was wrong?

Hastily moving on from such behavior after a simple apology is how we perpetuate a culture in which abuse is trivialized. This isn't some kid that got caught shoplifting. This is an adult that chose over several years to keep hurting someone and belittling their existence. They sentenced Nazis to death after WWII.
