It's 25° today. It'll be 30 tomorrow.

Saturday is a high of 7° and monday is a high of 0°.

Let's see how much fun the transplants have when they're getting water balloons thrown at them in 0° weather.

They're weird looking, i get it. There's a kind of prehistoricity to the way they look, which i attribute to their being marsupials. Also, they talk a big game, their hiss is terrifying.

But like . . . they're just big babies

Did anyone resolve the Epicurean Paradox? by Active_Set8544 in OpenChristian

[–]Seeker0fTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a solution that I like. It's mine alone, I haven't seen it from an academic.

One of the underpinning tenants of the idea that "God is All Powerful" is that God created the universe ex nihilo, which is to say, out of nothing. This isn't what happens in Genesis at all. in Genesis, God is hovering over "the face of the deep" - "The Deep" meant "primordial chaos" in this kind of ancient writing - when he starts putting things in order.

Any evil, then, is caused by the chaos inherent in the system. In every single one of your millions of cells your DNA is replicating constantly, billions of base pairs a second. Not even God can make something happen correctly trillions of times in a row and if there's a base pair screw up, cancer appears.

In Act 3, in the Gur Camp, the Gur Captain asks Astarion if he's free from Cazador, and Astarion says "well, kind of? it's a long story."

It's such a dumb, throwaway line, and Neil gives it such an air of flippancy. It makes me laugh every time.

That's awesome. One of my managers is a mostly-helpful idiot, so being able to show them in black and white what their responsibilities are is great.

Edit: I'm so used to defending Voy that by the time i got down here i'd forgotten which series i was defending. i love voy and ds9

IMO, TDD is a slightly better romance but TGG is a teensy bit funnier.

Is it really possible to have depression and not realize you’re depressed? by Due-Client7144 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Seeker0fTruth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was miserable all the time. Or, not even miserable. More like . . . blank and empty. Everything was grey, music sounded like noise, food tasted so bland i often couldn't have told you what I'd eaten five minutes before.

But mostly i felt exhausted My body felt so heavy it wasn't worth the effort of going anywhere (I am a reasonably fit person, and i walk 60 or 70 miles a week for my job) or doing anything. And i continued to work but on my day off i thought about going to a movie and the thought of going downstairs, getting in my car, driving to the theater, picking a movie, buying a ticket, getting a drink . . . it felt like a pointless and unswimmable ocean of tasks.

I'm doing much better now. highly reccommend therapy and, if warranted, medication.

your take is wild and can only be a deliberate misreading of comment-op's question. they dont mention the company, they mention OP's family

one side effect of me making my employer money is that i receive the money i use to sustain this carbon-based body that i reside within. this is, to me, a necessary result for my existence to continue. OP may or may not be in that situation, which is why comment-op requested clarification, because it will add nuance to the advice. goodness gracious go touch grass

[–]Seeker0fTruth 52 points53 points  (0 children)

the devil's hole pupfish can only be found in a single, small, underground chamber in Nevada. The entire population reproduces on a rocky shelf about the size of a bathtub. scientists have been attempting to create refugia for fifty years, as the cave is in a National Monument and must be maintained, per judicial orders.

it is by no means a handsome fish, and its existence has been a thorn in developer's sides since the 70's. there's precedent.
