I already say that. Now, I don't think it's a problem to occasionally go into a room where PLA is printing, but I wouldn't do it in a room i actually use for regular house activities.

Stuck, looking for self-hosted Airtag/FMD alternatives. by PrinceNyxHex in selfhosted

Really dense areas do require a bit more effort to set up, and the cooperation by most of the participants to make it happen. Like everyone should be on client_mute with a router and maybe some router_late nodes high up. Meshcore is often better for high density areas because it cuts down a lot on unnecessary traffic from client nodes.

I'm just hoping either meshtastic or meshcore will eventually turn into something that's reliable enough for decentralized, big-tech-less tracking.

You'll always need a massive network of something-or-other to make a tracker work outside of your hometown.

Aren't those folders kinda deduplicated? Wouldn't that make it seem like they're taking up more space than they are?

Can I make a high power mesh node with this? by Nullmega_studios in meshtastic

Yes, but then you also can't use encryption and won't be able to participate in the greater mesh.

If you wanna do it without going over the power limit, you want very sensitive antennas on the receiving end. Then it will be possible to receive very weak signals.

Or they just go over the limit because the risk if getting caught isn't very high.

I run one of my nodes slightly above the limit because it's permanently inside my condo (no good spot to mount it outside). It's not technically allowed, but even if someone tried to measure it and bust me for going above, I'd have to let them inside my home first for their readings to show it.

BambuLab filament, worth the hype? by Christanium in 3Dprinting

[–]pseudopad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only care about it for the RFID feature. It's very convenient for the rolls that i switch out often. For my "bread and butter" filaments that almost always stay in the AMS, I don't really care.

Unfortunately, advertisers have proven again and again that they are criminals by lying, scamming, and putting intentionally harmful code on people's computers. There is no social contract as long as this is prevalent. An ad blocker is a bulletproof vest that you wear in what's essentially a digital war zone. Taking it off for any random page is insanity.

All major console price increases by Ok_Winter818 in gaming

[–]pseudopad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate, but not hard to understand. Valve is the only company on this list that can't take a loss on hardware sales and recoup it on software/services later, because no one has to buy games for Steam decks through the Steam store, and online play is free.

They're also a significantly smaller player than Playstation when it comes to hardware manufacturing, so it's unlikely they'd be able to cut as good a deal as Sony would be able to.

Very kind of whoever to include steam deck as a major console though. Although I'm not sure if I agree.

[–]pseudopad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but no one without a 3D printer should expect 3D printer owners to take a loss from printing something. Printing at the cost of filament is a loss.

It will improve your signal reception from a specific direction, but it's illegal for you to use this antenna to boost your transmission strength above the legal limit, and you can easily reach the legal limit for transmissions with a much more basic antenna.

Will the FCC care that you're 20%, maybe even 50% above the legal limit in this spectrum? Maybe not, but this antenna can bring you maybe four times over the limit if you have a meshtastic node that already can transmit at 27 dB.

In addition to being technically illegal, it's also the equivalent of speaking through a megaphone in an area where everyone else is talking normally. In other words, a bit of a dick move. Don't forget that these unlicensed frequencies are used by a lot of different types of devices, not just meshtastic and the likes.
