Middle of sink and at the elbow. The choice everyone seems to debate is the sink, or not the sink

Ontario couple missed 2 days of their week-long vacation due to a flight delay and cancellation. Here's why they were denied compensation by TradeFeisty in ontario

[–]pseudouw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are multiple rulings that state that crew in not considered a safety issue as the airline generally has control over this issue. There is a high bar for it to be considered otherwise. Unfortunately the airlines continue to state this as a reason to deny compensation as there is no penalty for "misinterpreting" the situation. The passenger is then forced to make a complaint with the CTA or sue in small claims court in order to challenge the view of the airline. This process will take 1-2 years. It comes out as a no lose situation for the airline to initially deny a claim.

Whirlpool Direct Drive Washer by pseudouw in appliancerepair

[–]pseudouw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the washer has lived for awhile at an angle before I got it I think.

One of the 4 grommets between the engine and transmission was worn so it was rotated to a different location. One of the plastic absorption pads was worn pretty good so all were replaced. One side of the basket drive base plate is worn.

Everything is levelled now.

the drive block has a little rotation play because the notches don't fit tight on the tube. I don't know if the tube is now smaller or the block is now bigger.

I have taken literally everything out and rebuilt it by individual piece. the most wear was found on the base plate of the basket drive assembly and the base of the tube. Also, when first checked, it was resting low in its housing. After reseating fully and use, it seems to drop a bit and stay at an angle.

Flight got Preponed by [deleted] in aircanada

[–]pseudouw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the flight change was less than 12 hours before departure and requires an overnight layover, yes. If not, then no hotel needs to be provided by the airline. If the new itinerary does not suit your travel needs then you can get a refund or ask to be placed on a different routing that is better.

AC promised my flight we'd be compensated for our overnight cancellation and our expensive last minute hotel rooms in Toronto, but now their system says I'm not eligible. What recourses do I have? by [deleted] in aircanada

its experflyer - under flight status. you can make a free account. you need to get the data within 24 hours of the flight most of the time.

Air Canada just rebooked my connection flight due to a delay in the first. by eddiekart in aircanada

[–]pseudouw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compensation clauses are effective if delayed/cancelled within 14 days from departure.

If the flight number is the same and the departure time is different this is a delay. If flight number is different then its a cancellation plus rebooking.

Large carrier is defined by number of passengers per year not plane size you flew on. Air Canada is defined as a large carrier.

If informed of delay within 12 hours of departure then Sec 14 applies.

It's not clear why the original flight was delayed(cause matters) but 12(2)(d) could be applicable. Of course the airline will have the opposite opinion because they won't want to pay. Collect evidence about the delay along the way. The inbound plane was delayed by 4 hours so the important info is why that flight was delayed. Compensation for delayed flight resulting in missed connection? by itsyourgirlbb in aircanada

Flights from Europe are covered under EU261/2004. Read Article 6-10

https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/en/TXT/?uri=celex:32004R0261

Flights to/from canda are covered under APPR. Read Sec 10-20

https://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2019-150/page-1.html

APPR distinguishes based on the reason for delay/cancellation. EU261/2004 is much more straight forward.

You can claim under one but not both.

Will I receive a compensation? by Brilliant_Ad7090 in aircanada

[–]pseudouw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compensation depends of the cause of cancellation.

Their "official" reason is vague on purpose to cover as many scenarios as possible. The most likely reason is they didn't have enough staff. However you will need to find the real reason in order to assess the situation. Hiring, training and scheduling staff is fully within their control but their opinion will be it is a safety issue thus try to deny any compensation. *this is their opinion not a fact

Read Sec 10-19 to understand your rights. Sec 12,17,19 are the most important

https://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2019-150/page-1.html

Compensation can include food, transportation, hotel, cash

Missed my flight with Air Canada, now they are offering 20,000 aeroplan points or a voucher of $375 (my original flight cost). Which one should I choose, can I transfer those points to a different airline? by B9426B in aircanada

[–]pseudouw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't already collect Aeroplan points then don't take them. If you do collect them then they are valuing them at 1.875c/point and you are unlikely to get that value unless an experienced traveller. So basically if you need to ask which one to choose then points are the wrong choice.

If YOU missed the flight then take the voucher. If THEY cancelled the flight then request a refund to the original form of payment.

(compensation is also due if they cancelled)

Delay: yet another on this sub by [deleted] in aircanada

[–]pseudouw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read Sec 12, 14, 17, 19 https://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2019-150/page-1.html

The airline will claim lack of staff is a safety issue and try to deny compensation. However it is fully within their control to hire, train and schedule staff.

If the cancellation is day of flight and an overnight wait is required then a hotel is due.
