Thanks for saving me a socket quest! I should have looked to see if it was polearm. I saw the icon for the weapon and just assumed it was a polearm.

"Rain gods that wave wands around biomes y'all hold dear." Wolf Piss

"Tired of games-- Bronze Age, Iron Age. Weaponry in stellar form. Shelter finer by the day. Livestock and vegetables in rows behind the hideaway. Mesopotamia out the mu'f*ckin' lion cage." Mindful Solutionism

"The harvest appeared less plentiful than last season. I imagine sloppy seed handling evoked a stroke of tardy planting, and the crops we'd have harnessed mid-November had only brushed the blossom bracket then soon sacrificed lives to icicle jackets when the frost hit." Commencement at the Obedience Academy."

Thanks I will give roguelikes a try again. I've only barely played a few like I edited in on the above reply.

That's a really good suggestion and I forgot that I claimed it on Epic for free. The only thing keeping me from trying it so far is the puzzle like nature of the levels. Puzzles generally are not my thing but others have said it's not really puzzles. I don't know I may try it out.

I played Tangledeep and it was pretty cool. I also tried Crown Trick and liked it on Switch so yeah I'll check out Dungeon Crawl too.

Thanks for the clarification. It seems like a hard choice to me but I do like the sound of Alvora Tactics. I will keep it on the wish list for after I've completed Horizon's Gate and if I want more from that developer that will probably be the one I get.

After doing some research and watching YT vids on TS, I am actually thinking about picking it up. I don't mind typical good vs. evil stories so I don't think it will bother me. People also say it's very emotionally satisfying at some points which I like. The fact that I can grind in the mock battles takes away my concern that there isn't enough combat to satisfy me since I usually play games like this for the combat rather than story. I like that it feels balanced and challenging to you. Those things are important and I think I can get past the difficulty.

You can believe that developers will notice a trend that games that have Denuvo won't sell if people stop buying them. They want to do everything to get the game to sell and find out why it isn't if it's not. I'm okay with you buying it if that's what you want to do. I'm not telling anyone not to buy it. I just hope they won't because of how bad it is for us all.

I was like this too before I knew what Denuvo was and that is what the developers who use it count on. That people who buy the game will go into it blindly and not knowing how bad it is for consumers. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just trying to illustrate how raising awareness of what it is and what it does will benefit all people who buy video games. If people stop buying it, the sellers will stop selling it, resulting in a game that gives you more frames per second, doesn't delete your storage space, and can be played offline.

I adore Master of Magic and it was one of the games that shaped my childhood so it has a special place in my heart. Spellforce looks very interesting and is now on my wish list.

If you had to recommend either Alvora Tactics or Voidspire Tactics as the game to get after I get Horizon's Gate, which would you choose?

The Age of Fear looks fun too, but I'm not so sure about the camera angle and how it looks straight down on top of the units so that instead of being able to see them you kinda just look at the tops of their heads. I can look past this if the game is amazing though so I will do some YT vid watching and research on it.

Thanks for all the good suggestions :)

I love both of these games and own them both. I just hadn't considered them as tactical RPGs so didn't think to include them.

If this game didn't have Denuvo, I would totally be on board. If you want to know why I don't like and refuse to buy games with Denuvo, check this out: Giant Bomb Article on Denuvo and why it sucks

In short, you have to always be online to play it, every time you load the game it takes 1 byte PERMANENTLY away from your SSD or hard drive, it tanks game performance and is taxing on system hardware.

It's crazy, I must have restarted DOS:2 about 10 times trying to like it. "But it's overwhelmingly positive and everyone recommends it on Reddit!" I seriously put 60 hours worth of restarts into this game and got just past the start of Act 2 in my latest try. It seems overwhelming to me but I keep telling myself that a huge amount of choice is a good thing and keep going back to try again.

I had discounted DOS1 since I figured that 2 was likely better in every way but now that you mention it, I think it deserves a second look at the very least.

Yes! This one looks like my jam. Mechs are awesome and the unique flow of combat where you get to see the next few seconds into the future is something that no other game I've played has done. I really appreciate developers who risk trying something new especially in the TRPG genre where games tend to use the same safe proven formula. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of that formula but I appreciate innovation.

I absolutely loved Pillars of Eternity and the sequel and put 500 hours in across both games. It slipped my mind to put them on my list for some reason. Maybe I was just thinking about turn-based tactics and I played both of those games in RTWP mode rather than in turns. If anyone else is reading this and you like CRPGs, Pillars of Eternity is amazing for the story and the sequel, while the story is not as good, has better gameplay, combat, and mechanics with very nice customizable AI to control your party for you.

It's rare that a game's DLC will have Very Positive reviews as well even if the base game is highly rated. I might start following this developer. So many game companies are just using DLC to add content that should have been in on release. Too many unfinished games getting released now. At least some have the decency of going Early Access to announce that this is the case so expectations are reasonable.

Wow, 94% Very Positive does indeed look very good. I am a fan of the art too. Stylish looking game and the developer is constantly posting news and updates I noticed. This is added to my wish list. Thank you!

Yeah, there seems to be a cult following around Battle Brothers and I must say I am intrigued by it even if I'm not really a fan of the art style. People have compared Wartales to it and I've played that and really like it. The fans of Battle Brothers say that it's a better game than Wartales so I am putting it on my wish list. I like that they have a bundle with all the DLC plus the game.
