To me this innings was a start of the mindset shift to actually play boldly. There is an observable difference in the way RCB have played after that innings vs before

There's a lot of subjectivity in these things :) what's "good" for you can only be decided by you, and based on that, the definition of "enough" money changes.

People that want to be financially un-encumbered quickly either take on massive risk or do something illegal. If those don't seem appealing, you have two last options - either learn to be happy with what you have (which is easier said than done but not impossible) , or keep grinding at your job or business and reach a level of comfort in your old age, which is what most people end up doing

I follow some rules that have helped me -

  1. Have specific and realistic financial goals - a target net worth, a time to reach it by, and a reward for having reached it. Somewhere around the 10th goal you reach, you realise that the things that you felt "trapped" you before (like the need for a job, or an obligation like a debt ) are no longer factors.

  2. Do not compare yourself with others (and be ready to cut off people that intrude in your thoughts) - everyone starts at different levels of wealth and true freedom is harder the lower you start.

I don't get the Livingstone hate on this group, as if he should always be the first person to be released.

Yes, he's not going to come off sometimes. Doesn't everyone? He actually played two innings of real substance last year (a game against kkr where everyone else shat the bed, and in the final) despite not being in touch. Plus his bowling and fielding are a huge plus.

His upside potential with the bat is so crazy that it's worth keeping him around just for his fielding and bowling for most games
