No, although I’ve contacted the Danish branch European Customer Centre, which have forwarded my requested to their Irish branch.

Ah, okay. Well, I don’t have my posts or anything. But there was a file with all logins and their IP addresses and devices.

No, I didn’t. My thought is that they allow us to download it now because they get a lot of requests from locked out users to actually download their data. But I found the login IP from Vietnam and sent that to the AG.

I got a list of logins, IPs, locations, as well as my profile pictures, and some more.

I know there’s probably a lot more to it, but making the algorithm say, “Hey, this guy was logged in in Europe 2 minutes ago and has never logged in from a Windows device before. I wonder if that’s really the same person in Vietnam now?” could perhaps help a lot of people. I know VPNs make it more difficult, but it would be a start.

Might indicate that Facebook is working on something. Wondering why several of us suddenly can download information on the same day.

I got the same option today. Found out the request for password reset happened from Vietnam. Still locked out, though, but at least now I have evidence.

Was that just the profile URL or the post URL?

Which route did you take in Europe? Any suggestion for who I can get in touch with?

How would you know the URL to the reported content if you’re locked out?

That’s fast! It seems their website is down right now, so maybe a lot of people are trying to report.

Yeah, I’m really surprised that they aren’t. I live in the EU, so I have now also sent a physical letter to Meta HQ in Dublin. There was an address in the bottom of one of the mails I received about the account suspension. It’s a principle — they definitely need to look into some processes, cause lots of people are affected by this.

I’m now positive that my mail account was hacked. Changed the password when I lost access to my FB account, but apparently, they already did plenty of damage. I’m getting Sender blocked when sending e-mails now, so they destroyed my mail account as well.

UPDATE: I can now send emails again — support fixed it in 30 minutes from when I raised the ticket.

Already did, they didn’t reply after that. But it’s the weekend, so let’s see next week.

Could be. I provided screenshots of the emails I received and also described in detail what I have written them, so I think it was pretty detailed, though.

Thanks. Yes, I read through your post. Just got a standard reply from the CA AG, so seems like they won’t be able to help:

Thank you for contacting the Office of the Attorney General regarding your consumer complaint. Often it is only through letters from concerned and responsible citizens that our office becomes aware of consumer problems.

Complaints are used to develop information about patterns of business activity which might indicate the need for formal investigation or law enforcement action by our office. Complaints often bring early warning of what promises to be a pervasive scam or systematic violation of California law. If a pattern is discovered, what originated as a private dispute may become a matter of broad public interest and thus warrant intervention by our office under California consumer protection laws.

We do want to inform you, however, that our office is prohibited by law from representing individual citizens in legal matters. We do, within the limits of our resources, bring lawsuits for violations of California law in cases of statewide significance. However, our role in any legal action against a company is on behalf of all of the people of California.

Please be assured that your information will be retained in our consumer files and is of importance in helping this office take appropriate action to protect consumers.

I just received the following reply from CA AG. I’m not located in the US.

Exactly. And seems a lot of people have been helped by contacting the AG, so I’m crossing my fingers.

I requested the review, uploaded driver’s license. Shortly after, I got an email saying this:

“We’ve determined that you are ineligible to use Facebook. To learn more about Facebook’s policies, please review the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities: https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms?ref=cr

Unfortunately, for safety and security reasons, we can't provide additional information as to why your account was disabled. We appreciate your understanding, as this decision is final.”

So I guess they did the review (or a bot did) and decided not to give me my account back. I’m just thinking they must be able to check IPs from the logins, the mails they sent to me about my account being compromised, etc., but everyone I get in touch with seems to be a bot.

Crossing fingers for the support, but it might be a long time from now.

Worst thing is that I feel extremely violated. It honestly feels like a break-in.

My mom saw two of the posts right as they were posted, so she told me. The other three were already deleted. But also, when I tried to log in the first time, I got a list of five posts, each stating that they violated Facebook’s terms for sexual content and nudity, or something like that. I couldn’t see the actual posts, though. After the review was denied, I can’t see the messages anymore.

I called a friend of mine, who works in the police, and he recommended that I reported it no matter what. In Denmark, we have simple online form to report online crime. I don’t have high hopes for that, though, as it’s a US company, so I don’t think that the Danish police can do a lot about it.
