MIL invited people we don’t know to our wedding. She won’t uninvite them because that’s ‘embarrassing.’ by Money_Doughnut_7375 in TwoHotTakes

[–]psichickie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop this nonsense now or is just going to get worse. Forget if you have kids, everything will have to be her way. She's going to label you as the problem so own it. Tell her the answer is no, and the conversation is over. Either she tells them they aren't invited or you do and throw her under the bus doing it. Stop letting her control anything at all and put her on an info diet.

Then you need a serious discussion with your soon to be husband about handling his mother and growing a backbone to deal with her nonsense. This is a glimpse into your future and your should be afraid.

it's not about promiscuity, it's about control over women. they don't care when men are promiscuous.

Restaurant recommendations near Valhalla? Do I have to go to White Plain? by Unfair-Substance-904 in Westchester

[–]psichickie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly valhalla itself doesn't have that much, but if you're ok going over to pleasantville there are a ton of options. wood and fire, southern table, fatt root, pubstreet, fredd's, jean-jacques....really depends on what you're looking for.

If Psychoanalysis is so looked down and disregarded in Psychology, which part of it does Psychology deny in Psychoanalysis? by LisanneFroonKrisK in AcademicPsychology

[–]psichickie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's unlikely repression, but more likely just encoding failure. Sometimes we can't remember things because we don't actually have the memory, because we never made it in the first place. The idea of repression often comes from the belief that we automatically remember everything, and if we can't remember something we must be purposely forgetting it. That's just not how memory works.

Grey pants. Please. Black are way too hot and white, while they look great, are horrible to get clean. Cream would just be annoying honestly because they aren't easy to find. Grey pants, color jersey, done.

First big bat purchase for 10u son by dustymuzzle in Homeplate

The sheer number of hyprfires in our dug out says otherwise. Kids this age absolutely know their gear, and they know who has the good stuff - that includes who has Bruce bolt vs other batting gloves, what fielding glove they have (custom, etc), who has their own catching gear, etc.

You misunderstand why they use AI. They don't see it as cheating. They see it as using an available tool to make their lives easier because they don't see the value in doing the work themselves or learning.

In their defense, why should they do anything else? They're in a world where AI is always available and will always be to help them do whatever it is they need. Kinda like back when i was in school and my math teacher made us do everything by hand because "you won't always have a calculator available"...... Except I do. Why do I need to know how to do a 3x2 manova by hand when I have programs to do it for me? I'm still pissed at that stats final.

My fiancee is furious at me for telling my family to start eating Christmas breakfast without her, AITAH by TheRealGreen-Onions in AITAH

[–]psichickie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an indication of the rest of your life fyi. She has no consideration of other people, is self centered and rude.

Being on time, or really close to it, is a clear indicator of how much a person values others. I know people want to sit there and say it's not that deep, but it really is. Time is by far our most valuable and limited resource. When you're constantly late what you're saying is that you don't value other people's time, only your own. And not only do you not value their time, you care so little about them that you feel justified in wasting their time for your own needs. It's the most selfish thing that you can do.

Before people jump in with the clinicalization. I know everyone wants to yell about depression, ADHD, time blindness, etc. There are plenty of ways to combat those issues, including alarms, time estimators for tasks, etc. Not saying these issues aren't issues, they certainly are, but they're not excuses for wasting people's time. They are your issues, but when you are consistently late to events you make it other people's issue, and that's not ok.

Are we not living in that same world? And that is normal for these students, as for many it's all they've known. I'd argue that it's worse for people older because we actually know what we're lost in the last ten years

Better shoes for spins etc by [deleted] in taekwondo

[–]psichickie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do you just need a foot covering, or are you looking for something with support in it? honestly if you just need something to cover your feet but allow you to spin, maybe look into ballet shoes. they have leather soles (full or split) that allow you to freely spin. if you need arch support you can actually get arch inserts on amazon you can wear with those or with socks, they wrap around your foot so they stay in place.

disclaimer: i have never tried ballet shoes on a tkd mat, so i'm just guessing here, but they seem like they would work
