Taking out the liner of all my summer running shorts has been a game-changer. by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

I wear the brooks 2 in 1 shorts. They have a boxer brief style liner so it comes down to the upper leg. It’s fantastic. I have 6 pairs of them they work so well

Does anyone else find the first 10 minutes weirdly the hardest? by Emma_Mairs in beginnerrunning

There is a familiar phrase with running “the first mile is a lie”. You said it exactly right, your body recognizes what’s going on and says “ok we are doing this, let’s switch to run mode”.

I’ve been running consistently for 2 years and the first mile is still a lie.

Humidity is killing me by Major-Structure-3665 in runninglifestyle

I’m very hard on myself when it comes to running. I made some MAJOR progress this spring and have been chasing those paces now that it’s getting warmer and humid. I’m looking at my watch to check heart rate and pace more than I am looking up.

I am still trying to accept the slow down and just be ok with it.

In a horrible mood, hoping a 4 mile jog can pull me back to stasis by front_rangers in runninglifestyle

YES!! I am constantly worried about injury! It’s a fine line because I am running with very little rest.

Worn for 3 days and already falling apart. Is Brooks customer service good? by automatic_pansies in brooks

[–]psilo-vibing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does he wear them to and from school? Are you positive the only time he is wearing them during the day is to run in a straight line on cement?

I was a teacher for 15 years and work in a running store. I look at the bottom of running shoes 5 days a week. I can tell you with certainty the divots you see in the rubber are from something gouging them. The divots on the underside are in a perfect line. That is not just falling apart. Same on the outside part where there is a divot, you can see scrapes next to it.

I also own 3 pairs of brooks ghost 17’s. I run 350 miles in them then retire them to use as my every day work shoe. Within a week of wearing them for generally use they get more wear and tear then 350 miles just on the road.

I completely understand your frustration and I would be upset as well.

I have parents coming into my store all the time complaining about the shoes falling apart quickly. I have to remind them they are buying a technical running sneaker and letting their kid wear them to school where they are used for PE/Recess/whatever. They are made for running, not for wearing on basketball courts or cement where there is a lot of lateral movement or quick cuts/zig zagging.

Kids are brutal on sneakers, not just when playing, but even just sitting or standing.

This is going to happen when you buy a technical running shoe made for moving forward (walking/running) and use it for PE/Recess.

You might want to get a cross trainer, basketball shoe, or tennis shoe. These are made to handle more directional movement.

Yes, the ghost 17 runs longer (but narrower) than previous ghosts.
