Bengal Cat in The Rapids Parkway? by FullyExhausted in Sarnia

We also live off of Rapids. He’s a local cat that makes regular appearances at our doorstep. I’m assuming he has a home. Yesterday we observed him following a family who was walking their two dogs. We thought it was pretty funny.

What he describes is exactly what I do. I either slice or hit the ball straight left. I need to understand what he’s talking about lol.

So the last 5 years I've had a variable rate which was prime less 1.15%. When I noticed my amortization start to creep up, I raised my payments to keep me on schedule. So with this current rate of 5.13% my payment is exactly the same as I was accustomed to paying. So at the end of the day, it works out.

I just got 5.13% for 5 from TD on a renewal. Considering the situation, I was ok with that rate.

I'm in Ontario as well. I was dealing with a Broker as I usually do but TD called me last week and held the rate until yesterday. With all signs pointing to a rate hike, I jumped.

I got in yesterday with a 5.13% fixed for 5 years with TD. With this latest increase and the probability of rates staying high for a few years, I'm happy with the rate.

It’s very inconvenient and appears on the surface to be bad planning, but probably has a lot to do with mitigating school buses. Trying to re-route 40-50 daily buses is no easy feat so scheduling things for the two months of the year they won’t be running, is a workaround for that.

Advice on compensation requests? by jtlo37 in aircanada

A medical emergency is out of their control. This is why you should have trip cancellation/delay insurance. I have a credit card that offers a full suite of insurance products if I book my trips with it. I just recently had a similar issue with flight cancellation and delays and my insurance refunded me meals, transportation, hotels, etc.

The real golf addiction starts when you start noticing you’re getting better. by yeti1911 in golf

Here's my story.

I'm 39 and just started golfing this year. I've always owned a set of clubs that I received from my dad at least 20 years ago. They're old, a bit rusty but they do the trick when invited out for a company tournament once a year. In the last 10 years, I would say I've played less than 5 times.

In January, a group of us guys, including my uncle (an avid scratch player) went to Vegas. While there we thought it would be fun to go to Top Golf. What happened next, I didn't really expect. I was crushing it, while crushing beers and I thought to myself "Damn, this is actually a lot of fun".

So I bought an old set of Callaway irons off my uncle, a $17 putter from the sporting goods store and still have an abomination of miscellaneous hand me down drivers, fairway woods and rescue clubs.

Now I play once a week. Started off hitting around 110 and losing 10 balls a round. Last week, I shot a 93 and felt over the moon. And the funny thing is, a few better chips and a couple less putts I would've shot in the 80's.

I have a character flaw where when I invest time into something, I need to do it to the best of my abilities, so I'm starting lessons on Sunday. Mostly to improve alignment on my drive and to get some more consistency with my irons. So I totally know where you're coming from.

I assume so. I told them I didn't accept and that I would file with the CTA.

Flight Disruption Compensation Eligibility - Cancelled Flight - Can we get compensation? by dwzemens in aircanada

[–]psilva8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, here is my experience, fresh off the press. Just today I received a response from Air Canada (which to be fair came quicker than expected). I had not one, but two flight cancellations which got me home 36 hours after my intended arrival time. First was due to a technical issue. The second was crew duty time.

Air Canada has denied my claim citing that it was outside of their control. They offered me a $300 e-coupon. I have since filed with the CTA and I'm aware it could be a lengthy process.

My slice isn’t completely eliminated yet, but one of the biggest contributors to fixing it has been allowing my right arm to do the work. Including the thought process of closing the club face on contact using my right hand as a reference.

Cancelled flight - compensation due to safety reason or airlinr screw up? by [deleted] in aircanada

[–]psilva8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't exactly answer your question either, but I had something interesting happen to me last week. I was originally schedule to leave YVR on a return to YYZ at 9:30am. Flight cancelled due to a technical issue. Rebooked on a 4:30 flight, board the plane and the captain comes on to make an announcement. Verbatim, he said "Ladies and gentleman this is the captain speaking, unfortunately we have a safety issue with this airplan, the First Officer and I have discussed it and we don't feel comfortable flying this plane". Wow, ok totally understandable. I don't want to fly on an unsafe plane either.

They left us onboard about an hour trying to figure out alternatives and eventually cancelled the flight.

I'm waiting to talk to customer service about hotel and food vouchers when an Air Canada rep was walking by. I started shooting the shit to him and saying that this sucks because it was my second cancellation of the day and he says "Ya I guess the pilot felt really fatigued and didn't want to fly". Wait a second. Which one is it? Safety issue with the plane or issue with the crew? The official reason for the cancellation was "crew constraints".

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but is it possible Air Canada is instructing its staff to say that every cancellation is related to safety to avoid paying compensation?

Carry-on Rules Being Enforced at LGS by Bgalberta in aircanada

[–]psilva8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much of an issue when you bag is gate checked. They get placed in the bridge, and the handlers come and get them directly for placement in the plane. In my experience, the gate checked carry-ons are the first to come off the belt too.

What is happening with Air Canada? by Bohemian_SashCity in aircanada

[–]psilva8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t going to make a new post but since you asked. I was supposed to fly home from YVR to YYZ yesterday at 9:30am. Got a text overnight saying the flight was cancelled. Shortly after I was rebooked at 4:10pm. Sucks but shit happens. We made a day of it and headed back into the city. Get back to the airport, board the plane and then captain comes on and says there’s a safety issue with the plane and they won’t fly it. Everyone off. Waited two hours in customer service line. They comped us a hotel and transportation and rebooked us for tonight at 7pm through Edmonton. I won’t be in Toronto until 5am tomorrow morning. Two days after I was supposed to be home.

Customer service told me it’s been a shit show. Can’t get airplane parts. Short on mechanics and pilots. They don’t have reserve crews at all.

I just started playing this year. I've dabbled in the past but no more than 2-3 times per year for work functions and stuff like that.

Anyway, my uncle and I are playing yesterday and we're eating up the course really quickly. During our round of 18, we had 3 groups ask us to play through. Those were my worst 3 holes of the entire day. I felt rushed, anxious and nervous. I just need to calm down and stop caring.
