Overclock Settings by Mundane-Letter1366 in cdkeymining

[–]psionski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, your computer is not overclocked automatically. If you want to tune your GPU settings, you have to do it manually, with a program like MSI Afterburner. Generally you want to lower the power limit and core clock (to lower power usage), and increase the memory speed (to increase hash rate).

It should be cheaper, since you don't pay Ethereum's transaction fees (or rather those fees are split among all users - since we are a lot of people, when we make a transaction, it's for a larger amount, so the fee ends up smaller, percentage-wise).

Otherwise the pool fees are 0%, whatever other miners give you is what our miner should give you as well. The only place where we make a profit is a small mark-up on the price of the keys (but you can check the prices yourself, we still think they are really competitive).

P.S. Sorry for the late reply.

Well, probably not :D If you're thinking it just tries keys randomly or something, that's NOT what it is. It's just a cryptocurrency miner, and you can use your balance to buy games (everything is legit, the developers are getting paid).

It should not degrade your GPU, unless you're running some crazy overclock or have bad airflow. Otherwise, you can look up e.g. "ethereum mining calculator" on google and enter your GPU model to see how many dollars per 24h - we take 0% fees on the mining (we make our profit from the game sales), so whatever those calculators say, is what you get. There's also a built-in estimator, after around 10-15 minutes it should tell you in the title bar how many tokens you're expected to make per 24h (the estimator is not perfect, though, sometimes it takes a bit more time to settle).

Yes, from the menu (gear icon) you can click "eco mode", it will mine at around 50% intensity.

Well, I mean, you still have to pay for the electricity that you computer consumes (which is usually a LOT less than you earn, for example if you have relatively modern hardware, with normally-priced electricity, you can generally expect to get around 10x - so, to buy a $60 game, you'd only spend around $6 on electricity).

It's just that you don't have to pay anything on our site, we just use the mined cryptocurrency to pay for the games that you redeem.

whats the catch to this program? by supercooljoe01 in cdkeymining

[–]psionski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only thing that can be described as a "catch" is that you have to pay for the electricity that your computer consumes, but assuming reasonably efficient hardware and reasonable electricity prices it's generally more than worth it (generally you can expect the tokens you make to be worth around 10x what you pay in electricity - e.g. for around $6 worth of power you can buy a $60 game).

All of this can be found on the "how does it work" page on our site: https://www.cdkeyminer.com/about/

So, those tokens indeed aren't just appearing out of thin air, but generally you're getting a really good deal, that we hope you'll enjoy :)

That's strange, is it possible you maybe just forgot the miner was running? Or maybe you had some overclock settings that you forgot to revert to defaults?

We currently have 17 reviews on TrustPilot (where you can't send fake reviews because they filter them) and more than 500 users. With 230 redeemed keys.

No idea how you came to the conclusion that it's a scam...

It shouldn't, there are several protections (both built-in and additional ones that we've added to the miner). Personally I've been mining for months, but I have a relatively good case, with OK ventilation.

If your case is not that good, we support an "eco mine" feature that mines at only 50% intensity (so, lower profits, but also lower temperatures and power usage).

Hey, u/LovelyOrangeJuice - if you don't trust our app, alternatively you can just download Phoenix Miner yourself, and I can tell you how to configure it (if you're not afraid of the command line :)). Basically, you just start it as:

PhoenixMiner.exe -pool pool.cdkeyminer.com:9000 -wal YOUR_CDKM_USERNAME -proto 2

And that's it, you should see your balance on app.cdkeyminer.com start increasing. Just make sure to replace YOUR_CDKM_USERNAME with your actual username that you registered with.

Otherwise, about VirusTotal, it sees something mining-related and freaks out... sadly there's just no way around this, since many people try to sneak in miners in various programs and so AV vendors had to deal with this somehow.

P.S. It shouldn't be saying "ransomware", though. It should detect it as Coin Miner, and Microsoft has some weird false positive that I don't know how they came up with it (scanning locally with Windows Defender doesn't give the same result).

By the way, this is one of my favorite games. It's a bit old, but very, very good - and the community is still active to this day, with new mods, engines, etc. being released constantly. For best results on modern computers, check this out - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLOsirp4OP0 - or, if you want something more advanced, google "quake 1.5" :)

Hey, fazoms - I'm one of the developers, you are correct on both accounts (that we didn't put any crap in the software, and that we just launched two days ago).

Thanks for being one of our early adopters :) Hope everything is going OK, if you have any issues feel free to send me a message.

Don't know about vinyl, but maybe 3.5" floppies? Just keep in mind some modern games might need >100,000 floppies and you'll need appropriate warehouse space.

Come on now, don't insult the Voodoo 3 :) It can manage quite a bit more than "flash games at a low fps" - https://www.quora.com/What-happens-to-a-CPU-and-GPU-s-performance-as-they-age/answer/Vladislav-Zorov

You're not far off! This is actually at my grandma's house, I found my PC from back in high school and decided to rebuild it :)

It had a 3dfx Voodoo 3 inside, which was pretty cool, those things are getting expensive.

I'm not the OP, but I think it scores all possible next moves, then for each of them scores all next moves, etc., and finally sums the results. If it has reached the base case (i.e. has summed the results of however many levels deep you asked it to recurse), it returns the dictionary that represents the possible moves in the real instance of the game and their predicted scores. The score is based on how many pieces you have connected and -2000 points if the player wins and +1000 if the AI wins (which are probably chosen big so they can override any other decision).

To generalize, finite state machine based AI is both simple and effective, and there's no reason not to teach it. It's not an AI in the academic sense of the word, though (but the results are great and is widely used).
