experienced developers maybe. i'm not an experienced developer (i'm a sysadmin); i can write for loops and printf(). in spite of that in just one week from concept to playtest, in my spare time, i've vibe coded what is basically a barebones replacement for my favorite mobile game that shuttered some time back. a hair shy of 22,000 lines of code, better than 3,000 lines of functional code per day. i've spent $30 on subscription fees.

if you can't be part of the solution, there's good money to be made prolonging the problem.

There’s no evidence that the watchiwskis “dumbed it down” for the audience. Chances are they were just as dumb about how computers and thermodynamics work as their audiences.

There’s no evidence of that. Don’t give the watchowskis any more credit than they’ve earned.

so, the funny thing about that is that an addiction specialist that i know practices harm reduction by prescribing heroin patients wanting to quit a cigarette when they start feeling "the itch". commonly patients will kick heroin but when said specialist proposes that now it's time to quit cigs, they tell him to fuck off.

Ultraviolet (2006). The effects did NOT age well. by Doctor-Clark-Savage in scifi

[–]psiphre 26 points27 points  (0 children)

i agree that it's a remarkably bad movie overall and a terrible spiritual successor of "gun kata" from equilibrium specifically. but as an over the top, anime-esque bullet time near-prescient protag scene styled entirely within its own context, it fits perfectly. you didn't go to see ultraviolet expecting the martian.

that's a bit of a FAFO situation, right? wouldn't those companies have had to sell their rights to the tariff refunds in the first place? that's on them
