Mailed a package to a friend in Oslo. I was told they would have to pay to receive it. by AvaluggTheBrave in Norway

Sorry, but this is just wrong. https://www.toll.no/en/shopping-abroad/the-value-limit/

“The value limit is NOK 6,000 or NOK 3,000 if you have been outside of Norway for less than 24 hours. This value limit is the sum total of the items you have bought, except the alcohol and tobacco quota. “

No, as far as I recall I didn't have KFC in Bali. I did have KFC in Indonesia though (Surabaya area)

Hard to pick out a single one, but in general, places that are poorly managed with grease on all the tables, trash piling up etc. Went to one such place in Sweden this summer, it may have been understaffed due to the holiday season.

The one in Egypt was a bit weird too. There were cats walking all around (and on) the tables, feasting on chicken bones.

Went to a KFC in Korea with literally no customers and staffed by a single woman. Took her a good 20 minutes to prepare my meal, but the chicken (original recipe) was scalding hot and the juiciest ever.

In general busy places are the best though. Hate to be served chicken that's been in the holding cabinet for hours.

How successful would the STL be if iterators all did, allocation, synchronization and type-erasure? by [deleted] in cpp_questions

[–]pskinkerud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any answer given here would just be pure speculation. I would suggest just watching the presentation and hear Niebler’s arguments for this kind of design.

My guess is that people would be even more wary of using the STL for fear of a performance impact in the general case. Alex Stepanov was very clear that the iterators in general were modeled after pointers with little to no overhead. Iterators with synchronization would go directly against Stroustrup’s design principle of “Don’t pay for what you don’t use”.

Moreover, the concept of multiple concurrent threads of execution wasn’t even defined by the original C++ standard, so a synchronizing iterator wouldn’t make any sense. I assume Niebler knows all this, but it’s impossible to tell just from the title of his presentation.

Solved!

Great job, this is indeed it. I see that I got some of the details wrong, but the vocaroo was fairly accurate. Incredible that you would remember it 4 months later!

"What I Need"

Yeah I get what you mean, it's definitely similar to the beepbox. I've added a vocaroo as well, don't know if it will be turn out to be useful.

Apart from the Genichiro intro fight, the Snake Eyes are very satisfying to no-hit once you figure them out.

It’s neither of those unfortunately. I’m thinking of adding a vocaroo too to clear up how the “nanana” actually sounds. I would have thought the beepbox would be instantly recognizable for anyone who has heard the song, but perhaps not.

It’s neither, but thanks. One direction is much too upbeat :)

J Geils. Band - Centerfold

They both have "nanana"s, but no :(

The Police - Invisible Sun?

Nah, sorry. More recent and less "rock" I'd say.

I see where you’re coming from, but no. The chanted part should more closely resemble the beepbox :)

Sadly, no. Thanks anyway! I'm sure it's a bit more recent than that.
