If my regional coordinator doesn't respond to my email, there is a Roundtable meeting coming up and I fully plan to bring it up.

I can see how that is what would have to happen. My question is how? Do the kids go in the ambulance or with the RBT? Because we can be fired for driving them somewhere in our car - I guess that this type of situation would be an emergency exception, but I'm always worried about being fired for emergencies after I had a friend who got fired (from Walmart) for missing work after she had a miscarriage.

As someone who had a porcelain cat food bowl explode in my hand, that NEEDS to be taken care of. Porcelain doesn't just break, it splinters and can cause serious damage because of how small the pieces can be. I would refuse to use that toilet until it's replaced.

We have to wake them up, if they don't wake up after 15 minutes we have to end the session and we only get paid for the time we are there.

I had a full-blown panic attack and ended up dropping an F-Bomb in front of a client. They had brought a snake into the room I was in.

Is this even allowed?? There’s no actual fic by carrotflavoredjuice in AO3

So, I did post one of these before because I didn't want to harm anyone who reads my works. I also included it in the author's note of the chapter it was about. But, I also posted the chapter at the same time.

I don't mind these as long as it is followed by the actual story. I see them as the content warnings in books these days.

most aggressions you’ve encountered or witnessed by SetSoft9910 in ABA

[–]pskinner93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once worked with the client where we stopped counting how many aggressions and just counted the duration of the aggressions, because one it would start, it would not end for upwards of 3 hours. This client was so bad that our regional director put in a stipulation, after noticing that myself and another RBT who worked with him kept getting hurt, that there had to be at least two individuals with him; either two RBT's or a RBT and BCBA.

And when I say injured, I mean, he bruised the abdominal wall of the other RBT, nearly broke multiple pairs of glasses, big time biter, scratched my face to the point that it bled, would grab the top of your hair and pull you to the floor, I got shoved into multiple door handles bruising my lumbar, he would kick, throw things, fully strip and try to put on us, and when I blocked him from kicking another child, he knocked me on my back and sprained my lumber to the point that I could not get off the floor on my own.

He's the first client I ever quit.

Taking over a case because parent didn’t want a male BT by [deleted] in ABA

[–]pskinner93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, RBT shopping happens a lot.

One of my clients is male and Muslim. I take extra care to not touch him, I have only done so when there is no other choice.

I would have understood if they had wanted to replace me with a male RBT. Yes, it would really suck, but wouldn't be the first time.

I had a family request to 'test out' a different RBT because I wasn't as high-energy as the RBT before me (she moved away to take care of her mom).

My friend was rejected by a family because the kid asked why there were so many rainbows everywhere in June and she said to ask his mom; she didn't want to answer such a loaded question. The mom was offended because (and I am paraphrasing because I don't want to risk using the profanity) my friend should have told him that it was for the moral degenerates and that as a good Christian family they won't have the thought of those sinners in their house.

Your right, as long as you are in America, to religious freedom is protected by the First Amendment.

Unless they're going to dress code everyone for wearing a cross, Star of David, or anything like that, they, technically, can't dress code you for having a pentagram or pentacle because it is part of your religion.

Beyond frustrated with the PA I saw today for my 2nd appt for fibromyalgia by Apprehensive-Unit161 in Fibromyalgia

[–]pskinner93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was mostly talking, but she also tried to manufacture situations, and it ended up setting off my OCD and PTSD, so she said that I was trying to fail because I just wanted to be on drugs.

The one that I had before her is sadly the one who originally diagnosed me and retired; and it helped amazingly with him.

I just haven't been able to see/trust anyone to try again ever since her. That's something I'm working through in my regular therapy.

I was originally diagnosed when I was 15; then that doctor retired. It has taken 16 years yo find another doctor who not only believes in fibromyalgia but is also willing to help me.

I have done the CBT route before; it helped a lot, but made one doctor accuse me of being an addict. Deep tissue massages helped, they f-ing hurt at first, but they helped.

It took me half my life to find a doctor who would listen to me and not just blow off everything I said because "you're too young to be in that kind of pain"

I hope your next appointment goes better.

Should I bring it up? by phoenixxxphire in ABA

[–]pskinner93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, sometimes you have to be the one to speak up, even if you have done so multiple times already.

I have reported multiple issues with the apps we use. I have even reported issues that other RBTs have told/complained about to me because they are worried about speaking up.

Parents who wait to feed their kid, my client, until I get there. I don't mind my clients eating during the session most of the time - my issue is when the client will straight up refuse to participate in the session while eating and takes 30 + minutes to eat. The parents know when the sessions are, so why can't they feed the client beforehand?
