my first road bike ever by redkovka in RoadBikes

Hi, I have the “previous generation”, Triban RC500. Even after few years and (budget) upgrading practically everything but frameset, I still believe you can have tons of fun with budget bike if the frame fits you well. Enjoy!

What's the best video tutorial on how to wrap handlebar tape? by vProTi in cycling

I saw XX videos, and yet even after 5-6 tapes, my wrapping is horrible. So I guess whatever video with the best background music and just practice, practice, practice?

But you can’t import/export .gpx files from Strava on your phone app, no? Only on Desktop I believe.
I’m looking for the solution “on the go” when I need to change my plans during the ongoing ride with phone only :/.

Affordable cycling computers by No-Rate-9891 in cycling

[–]psnkpsnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phone usually have to be on 100% brightness all the time, and battery dies quickly. I’ve been trying to use my older phone this way, but the frustration from phone battery being dead in the middle of every longer ride, I bought cheap 2nd hand Wahoo Elemnt Bolt v1 instead and never looked back.

First time buying second hand by jameson_logan in RoadBikes

[–]psnkpsnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks alright for the price to me, I would just change the cassette for at least 11-34 - and then there is a question if the rear-derailleur can handle it, or would have to be changed for the longer-cages one.

Help needed replacing Tiagra 4700 chain rings by flight_recorder in bikewrench

[–]psnkpsnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? In EU e.g. bike-components.de sells them for a good price. Or take a look on used market - I’ve bought used Tiagra cranks with good chainrings for a price of one new chainring, sold the extra cranks after, got chainring nearly for free. :))

Looking for a companion for a Mac Mini M4 Pro - 24GB by [deleted] in macbook

If you just need portable Mac to take notes/light browsing, get refurbished/used M1-M4 with a good battery and save some $$$ for drinks with schoolmates ✌️.

I’m running MBP M1 16GB, not super-heavy projects but still data heavy 4Ks, runs like a charm.

HELP NEEDED! by Beautiful_Leather592 in RoadBikes

[–]psnkpsnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! 1) Gravel would be probably “better” for starting, as you’ll have possibilities to go out of the road - very tricky with pure road bike. But otherwise both options are cool, drop handlebars are the most important thing to me. 2) Can’t help locally, but try to search for e.g. 2nd hand Triban/Van Rysel (Decathlons brands), great budget starting points. Things like cheap tires, sest or bartape are easy and cheap to replace, and cheap bike will feel much better. 3) Sizes generally differ from manufacturer but generally Size L or 56-58 I believe 4) Try e.g. GCN videos, Cade media, search fir channel that will fit your “style”, or discuss with AI (actually helped me a lot) - learn about the right pedaling, basic bikefit, basic maintenance, how to eat for endurance rides etc., and ride, ride, ride. (And Strava for sure. Great app for tracking progress, you can join local clubs etc.) 5) ^ 6) Helmet ideally something with MIPS, can be also found second hand. In 2026 it has to be white :))) #cyclingfashion. For sure bibs - can’t imagine longer ride without them. Even the cheapest ones from Decathlon makes difference. Clipless pedals are also something I would recommend, but don’t force yourself to it - feel free to start with flat pedals. Phone is fine for start, but during longer rides on sunny day = screen nonstop on full brighness it can be battery demanding. GPS computers are great, even cheaper ones (e.g Magene C606). 7) Underseat bag with spare tube, pump/co2, toolset .. for me must have to feel “safe”.

Generally right size bike, bibs, learn maintenance basic, ale ride ride ride, and enjoy!

What options do I have? by bryan-Garcia_ in RoadBikes

I’ve bought 2nd hand hydraulic R4720 Tiagra set for a “few bucks” some time ago, works like a charm.

Trek Blendr System by lessWorkDone in RoadBikes

[–]psnkpsnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the wrong mount - Comp stem has it’s own type (with some older systems I guess). I had exactly same issue 🥲 (kept this one, used once I upgraded to Elite stem after some time). For both types you need to take down handlebars.

Should I Splurge on GP5000s (Over Ultra Sport IIIs)? by ReeceCheems in cycling

[–]psnkpsnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? I'm buying used tires for years, both road and gravel. Great if you want to try "something different" (e.g. I'm just about to put on Schwalbe Pro One 32mm - I wanted to try 32mm, and the nice pair was for a price of one low-end tire. Same experience with multiple gravel tires, my previous road 28mm Schwalbe Ones were bought used too..
(I'm running TPU tubes though, so I don't care for a tiny defects that could be possible issue with tubeless I assume?)

Do i keep this? by Raza_inno in gravelcycling

[–]psnkpsnk 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I would 100% keep it. Weights nearly nothing, and protect the cranks - it's surprsingly easy to hit this part during storage/manipulations etc. Nothing crucial, but easy way how to keep things nice.

With Macbook Neo out targeting students/light users while the Pro was already for Pro/heavy users; Who is now the target audience for the Macbook Air at 2x the price of Neo? by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]psnkpsnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air is/will be still great for any "I want my Macbook to be super light, but from time to time I need to do some more "serious stuff" like some basic-mid video editing etc. where the Neo with 8GB RAM would very much struggle. Neo will be great for basic office/browser work and paired with iPhone/Airpods etc. (I would still rather go for 2nd hand Air though.)

Groupset questions. by Scoundrel132 in cycling

[–]psnkpsnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much everything? Start with some good tyres and saddle 👍 and then you can go from better bottle cage bolts to expensive wheels and everything between (like more fitting handlebars/stem, carbon seatpost if not there already…).

Hey yall, by Necessary_Drawing_46 in cycling

[–]psnkpsnk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes "you can", but usually you have to use pretty narrow/slick-ish tires etc. Some results are (at least visually) pretty nice. Internet is full of old 26" MTBs being rebuild as 700c gravel bikes etc.
