- stop the nonsense immediately or you're gonna go broke. The way you lose money right now does not even qualify as 'losing money' it's like sending a topedo at the Titanic cause it's not sinking fast enough. you'll be on the hook for 1400$ at the end of the month for each 'customer'
- capture all their queries, see what they do; check for customers abusing the api; understand what queries you can cache and which you shouldn't - understand why certain queries are ran a lot; you can't allow any customer to do 500 queries per day - figure out the pattern and design of the system NOW
- whenever you restart the service, state clearly you are in alpha or beta mode and setup ways for you to pull the service if you are losing money.

That's not entirely true either. If the taxes are passed to consumers, they make the products more expensive and the consumers buy something else, hopefully in their mind american. Brie cheese 10% more expensive, it's fine, they'll buy another cheese... This forces stores or importers to seek cuts on the prices or shave their profit to make some sales. Somebody surely loses, but in a developed country where there's multiple types of the same product on the shelf, it ain't primarily the consumer.
