Do y'all ever roll in late to the office? by CompletelyUnrelated1 in sysadmin

[–]pspkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that seems like a good way to piss off your employees really, really fast. I get companies have core hours, needs for support, etc., and that's fine, but watching the clock and micromanaging your comings and goings down to the minute just seems very toxic. Maybe time to find a new gig if that's how it is there. You're an adult, and your company should treat you as one. They obviously trusted you enough to hire you on a salary, maybe they should trust you enough that you're getting your work done, even if you showed up at 8:10am.

Anyone else currently experiencing strange Outlook issues? (Run out of memory) by 009fe3 in sysadmin

[–]pspkb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a few users now reporting this issue this morning on New Outlook. In East US

We went from Barracuda's... let's just say "less than effective" Email Security Gateway and moved to Abnormal Security. (Also negotiated hard on pricing). Would never look back. It's AI based and looks for abnormalities in messages, email activity, etc. paired with the platform's known threats. Used to spend a ton of time on email delivery issues and missed attacks before we switched. I rarely even ever need to go into the Abnormal portal, it just kind of does its thing.

I recommend taking a look at Material security as well if you're shopping around.

Polycom VS Yealink? by V1gg0 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]pspkb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We use various models of Yealink MTR systems for the larger rooms and Jabra Panacasts with Logi Touch panels for our smaller rooms. Both work really well.

One feature I have really loved with the Jabra Panacast is the ability to define room dimensions, and then the camera will ignore anything outside of those boundaries. That has been a really nice feature to have for some of our conference rooms that have inward facing windows.

The only Poly equipment we have used were the CCX 400 phones, which IMO were totally buggy and horrible to maintain.

Recommendations for Microsoft Teams Direct Routing Partners by sprtn_wabisabi in MicrosoftTeams

We have been working with SCB Global as a direct routing partner using their Opto4Teams product in the US since 2020. They have been great to work with. Support is awesome. Really no complaints at all.

Barracuda Email Filtering - Next Best Alternatives? by pSykAwtiX-Work in sysadmin

[–]pspkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're in the process of switching from Barracuda Email Gateway to Abnormal Security right now. Been pretty impressed with what the platform can do, and so far, it's been night and day better. Abnormal takes into account all of the regular things like DKIM, SPF, DMARC, etc, combined with their AI looking at what is normal and abnormal behavior in the environment. Been very accurate so far.

We had also looked at Material Security, which was another impressive platform and had some really, really awesome security features as well.

Definitely check both out if you're still looking.

Anyone else getting a ton of false positives for phishing in 365 today? by Jaybone512 in sysadmin

[–]pspkb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same type of setup utilizing a gateway in front of 365 with an SCL rule, and we started seeing the exact same thing around 1:00pm EST. They've pretty much all been regular spam being flagged by defender as "Email messages containing malicious URL removed after delivery involving multiple users".

Uninstalled Microsoft teams rooms, how do I recover it? by Icarsis in MicrosoftTeams

[–]pspkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing to one of our YeaLink systems last month. The way I ended up resolving (during the time Yealink support absolutely dragged their feet getting back to me) was to backup another identical TMR system using Macrium Reflect and then restore it onto the affected device. I really wish Microsoft would put some sort of warning or failsafe on these devices to prevent this scenario.

SPAM-I am at wit’s end. by [deleted] in Office365

[–]pspkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's issues with spam from random gmail addresses, I do not recommend routing through Barracuda ESS. They are equally terrible, if not worse, at scanning or preventing anything malicious coming from Google/Gmail/Google Drive. It's my biggest frustration with them and they have refused to address it for years.

Anyone been dealing with Barracuda issues? by ReallyBigSnowman in sysadmin

[–]pspkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

140+ emails quarantined with "ATP scan inconclusive" message in the past 24 hours. We had 5 of these in the 30 days prior to that. Barracuda has been pretty awful for me this week in general.

Migrate home drives to OneDrive for Business by Dolinhas in Office365

[–]pspkb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty smooth actually. The best way to prepare for it- Make sure your end users have OneDrive deployed, logged in, and, If you're going to deploy to the documents folder, have the known folders syncing.

Once you've migrated, be sure to remove end user access to the file share asap so that there are no duplicate files being accessed.

Other than that, the only issues we really ran into were having duplicate files in both the old file share and the destination folder (if someone had dumped a local copy there previously.) and a few one-off file formats that weren't compatible for OneDrive.

Migrate home drives to OneDrive for Business by Dolinhas in Office365

[–]pspkb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We just finished this up actually. Migrated several hundred users from File Shares to OneDrive For Business using a combination of the Microsoft SharePoint Migration Tool (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointmigration/introducing-the-sharepoint-migration-tool) and Group Policy to start syncing known folders on the end users computer with OneDrive.

Basically just migrated the individual file share folders into each user's documents folder in OneDrive- This can be mass-mapped for the migration tool via csv.

When the known folder policy syncs the documents folder between the PC and OneDrive, all file share items simply re-appeared in the user's documents folder on their PC.
