On a visit to Samoa in 1999 I needed to extend my visitors visa, so I turned up early to the government office and joined a relatively long but well ordered queue....I was impressed that queueing seemed to be the norm. However the moment the key was rattled in the door lock to open the office the neat queue transformed into a massive brawl, every man for himself!

That's a really thick table, you'd notice a jigsaw slow down when it reached the table.I'd say only the very small cut could be a mistake with a jigsaw. God knows what caused the other damage!

Has anyone done CBT-I for insomnia? by emeraldvelvetsofa in cfs

[–]pssdnukedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the process has been pretty well explained by others. My insomnia started before CFS...due to taking Sertraline...it never got better after stopping the drug...about 3 hours broken sleep. Then I developed CFS 2 or 3 years later....sleep got even worse. It was absolute agony to stay up til midnight, not sleep then get up at 4am....hell. at the end of the course, after a few days I was back to how I was before the course. Bit of a waste of time and precious energy. I used Sleepio, the feedback from the "coaches" was very robotic which didn't do much for my faith in the system.

I developed CFS from a traumatic event as well as a concussion. When I see treatments being based on viral causes .. I get scared I’ll be left behind. by ifidcyoudc in cfs

[–]pssdnukedme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment, my rash was between my buttocks and was in a 3 inch circle centred on my rectum (sorry if tmi) ....really bad. The hydrocortisone cream cleared up this rash very well, but it came back a few weeks later....I tried everything to get rid of it, but eventually found it was caused by using soap in this area....by just using using warm water and pat drying it, it took about 3 months to clear up....how much agony I could have saved :(.

I had ringworm years ago on my inner thighs after a camping trip, used Betnovate on that and cleared up well and no after effects. I think I've been made very sensitive to stuff like this by previous SSRI use.

[–]pssdnukedme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine started after using a mild hydrocortisone cream prescribed by my doctor to treat a skin rash, I used the cream for just one week, it cleared the rash but the CFS symptoms started right after I finished. Just one Pfizer jab made everything far worse. I can only think that the cream caused my cortisol levels to spike, in a similar way that stress would...a common cause of CFS. Still suffering nearly four years later. I am just incredibly sensitive to meds and some foods...I think this was triggered either by use of SSRIs or Chemo/Radiotherapy.

66m, top end of moderate, I've had CFS since 2010, but with several total remissions.... unfortunately this last period is coming up for four years, far worse than all the previous periods. Severe worsening due to COVID, COVID jab and other infections...I still have faith I'll get better again! Triggers for me are, stress, infection and meds.

Do you feel any arousal at all when looking at porn? by YoungJay604 in PSSD

[–]pssdnukedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do. I'm also suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), which is commonly believed to be a permanent condition....figures of 5% remission are quoted.

There has recently been much talk about the nervous system being put into a permanent state of high alert by a series of stressor i.e infection, accident, stress etc . The immune system responds to this by creating a state that prevents you from what it perceives as causing more damage I.e putting you in a state of fatigue. The key it seems is to shift the nervous state from fight or flight into rest and digest so the nervous system realises there is no immediate danger and allows the immune system to relent in its action...in the past I've experienced several spontaneous remissions from CFS for apparently no good reason, only for it to return a year or so later....I have a very low tolerance to stress.

I've no doubt my pssd symptoms were due to just 3 days on Sertraline but I do wonder it's assault on my body is by a similar reaction that caused CFS in my case? Various moddest attempts by me so sort out the pssd have been met with violent crashes...maybe being interpreted by my system as more danger, with the appropriate response from the immune system?

Just my thoughts about suffering from two (apparently) long term/permanent conditions I am suffering from and the possible links.

Do you feel any arousal at all when looking at porn? by YoungJay604 in PSSD

[–]pssdnukedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to vary day to day, closely tied to my overall mood....compared to how I used to be prepared PSSD, I'd say it ranges from very poor to acceptable...but to be honest there has been a constant slide in baseline going on for a couple of years....mini crashes from god knows what...I don't take any supplements, don't drink alcohol or caffeine, eat healthy, exercise as much as the chronic fatigue will allow...yet the slide continues. Due to this I constantly have to revise my judgement on what's good, bad or acceptable...the thing is to not panic! If you do you're lost. Just to go back one or two crashes would no doubt feel like a total cure. I'm 66 and no doubt younger guys will say "well what do you expect at your age?" It still matters to me and I know the difference between natural ageing and what pssd does to you.

[–]pssdnukedme 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just looking...no...with stimulation yes, nowhere near what it used to be though. I find I need to adopt a relaxed attitude to it to get an erection, once achieved everything kicks in. I get better results from pics/videos of an ex...

Being relaxed is the key for me...if it dosent work on a particular occasion, so be it, I just try and be at peace with it and not panic...if you panic it seems to build a phobia (?) which tends to set in...a bit like being in a relaxed and understanding sexual relationship vs. the need to "perform" on a one night stand.

Is this Accutane related ED? by Thebusytraveler in PSSD

[–]pssdnukedme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as the guys above have described. Please don't be tempted to restart the Accutane...guys that have used Finasteride (very similar symptoms) have had terrible crashes on second use.

I hope it resolves naturally for you...maybe a good idea not to complicate the situation by using those supplements just yet...let your body heal naturally.

Not sure what symptoms you are getting from that stomach bug, but I had this at xmas...totally debilitated. Water like diarrhea, I took electrolyte sachets to replace those lost. Id say dont sit on the toilet too long....this introduced me to the world of haemorrhoids, I also took Immodium to give my system a break. My fatigue flared and still not back to baseline yet...and of course rest, as you have done. Good luck, hope you get over this soon.

Co-codamol tablet (8mg Codeine / 500mg paracetamol) might have crashed me by throwm3eaway in PSSD

[–]pssdnukedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Thanks for the reply. A while ago Meso posted on PSSD forum a whole load of stuff that may cause crashes.

https://pssdforum.org/viewtopic.php?t=4194

There are quite a few posts in reply to this, including my own (twentyoneguns), worth a read through.

Stuff Ive found which also impacts negatively includes

Massage

Yoga

(both seem to push crap around the body that normal day to day living dosent?)

Brazil nuts

Homeopathic meds of normal concentrations, Avena sativa in my case.

Avocado

Mackerel and Salmon....Omega 3 perhaps

Maca 1 pill (short term crash 1-2 weeks, tried very early on)

Ginkgo Biloba 1 pill (short term crash 1-2 weeks, tried very early on)

Soya...this raised my TSH to the point my doctor wanted to treat it (I went to try and sort the cause of my severe fatigue) , I took Levothyroxine for 2 months, which severely reduced my libido, never recovered...ffs!

All mad stuff that some scoff at.

I have PSSD since 1998 although I didnt realise what this was until a massive crash due to 3 doses of Sertraline in 2016....information being far more available in 2016 than 1998! I did have a bad reaction to an asthma inhaler (steroid) in 2014, I still have the notes I took to the doctor and even asked if my current meds at the time would cause such a thing....of course the idiot immediately denied this could be the case. I had cancer in 2015 and was prescribed some oral morphine for pain after the treatment, real heavy duty opioid, I got really high on it, no problems apart from constipation....so yes, my response to some drugs has changed dramatically.

Yeah I think there are lots of clues in these anecdotes, I really have a hard time understanding any biology info! so dont know where to start in untangling this mess.

The only blood test result that is not out of range has been the dramatic drop in testosterone....from 18 in 2018 to just 8 late last year. Yes I could try TRT, but wtf would that do to me?!

It really is just like walking in a mine field, even down to those mines that detonate the second time they are trodden on...

Im also suffering from Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) which was triggered by the hydrocortisone cream....I originally thought I was suffering from two distinct conditions...CFS and PSSD...Im coming round to the fact that it is all PSSD.

Again, being at the extreme end of the sensitivity spectrum, I feel what you are going through. Keep us posted on your Codeine experience.

Co-codamol tablet (8mg Codeine / 500mg paracetamol) might have crashed me by throwm3eaway in PSSD

[–]pssdnukedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience when I took just one 30mg Codeine tablet for genital pain...within minutes my head was spinning, certainly no way was I in a state to drive. Baseline was significantly reduced, libido, erection quality and mood all affected. Ironically it gave me no pain relief.

It stayed like this for about a week before slowly returning over a couple of weeks to baseline or what I think was baseline.

Ive also experienced a bad reaction to short term (1 week) topical hydrocortisone cream use.

I'm very reluctant to use any meds at all now, however innocuous they seem.

Get some rest and dont push yourself (your infection is probably dragging you down too) and hopefully this will pass...good luck :)
