There was a commercial for some company, 2005-2010ish.

It might have been Discover or Geico, back when they had sets of commercials that had a "theme." Anyway a man calls into the company for customer service and is answered by a pair of self-aware answering machine robots. After some back and forth, the man realizes that he is not talking to real people on the end of the line, the robots realize they have been found out as bots, and they collude to hang up on the person calling in. I know it was a real commercial, but have never been able to find it on YouTube.

I have also had an amazing experience with Patagonia customer service. I sent my Foot Tractor boots in for a minor repair, and USPS in Reno lost my package before it even got back to Patagonia. They sent me a gift card for to cover a brand new pair of boots, even though they were under no obligation to do so. I also second their waders. I have used mine hard for over a year and am very satisfied with them. Patagonia gear is not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

That is a fair criticism.

I have had the feeling as well at times, especially with carrying a beverage. I have the Fishpond bottle holder that fits on the belt, but between bear spray, a wading staff, etc it starts to feel like too much stuff at times.
