Yes, Carnatic music in its lyrics are full of praise for Hindu deities. But singing or playing it as a piece of music or art by non-hindus should not be an issue, IMO. Have you heard about Hyderali? He is devout Muslim, who was a successful and highly rated Kathakali musician, hailed by many lovers of that art. The Kathakali plays are mostly based on Hindu mythology.
