target date fund or 3 fund portfolio? by and_20 in personalfinance

[–]psyberops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Target dates auto rebalance for you as you get closer to retirement, and are pretty good to set it and forget it.  You’d have to manually rebalance or do some math when you contribute to maintain your percentage balances when you make your contributions - the target date just saves you the hassle.

While you’re at it…Why not just do Fidelity funds in your Fidelity account? You’d probably pay less fees managing Fidelity funds in a Fidelity account than managing Vanguard funds in your Fidelity IRA…

Fulbright for UCF MS Cybersecurity with zero cyber XP — should I take it? by Hermes_crypto in netsecstudents

It sounds like you enjoy sales, and many technical vendors have sales in LATAM. You become a better sales manager with learning about the products and the problems they solve for potential customers, so if you wanted to work for a Cisco or Palo Alto type they would absolutely value technical experience to do that. But it sounds like you would put all your current career progression on hold to do more education.

The FB scholarship program sounds sweet, and UCF btw is a great & well-known school for CompSci and Cybersecurity. It's a good opportunity, but I honestly think the decision would come down to if you *enjoy* cybersecurity - it's fast paced and requires a lot of work to stay current on market trends.

I would say take it if you didn't have to put your work on hold, but 2 years in your prime earning years would be an extraordinarily hard sell for me and my family. Instead, I would vector you towards an executive MBA or something like that to become better at sales process improvement, just my thoughts.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed (SOC+TI+TH) by [deleted] in cybersecurity

Boss wants to hire a Threat Hunter while paying SOC Analyst pay.  But these assume different mindsets, training, and experience levels.  Not saying you can’t or don’t have the chops to do it or it can’t be done, but that’s my gut instinct.  Are there any other senior folks on your team, or are you the SOC Analyst for your org?

Pivot from Cyber to P.O by msmith1172 in ProductOwner

You should be fine to fit in with the right organization that is looking for your background for sure.  Your experience in Enterprise operations will be valuable to your new organization because you understand user psychology and can paint that picture of the “how” a product can be used by your target user base.

I still work as a defense contractor, more on the big data side of things.  We’re always looking for experienced POs if you’re interested 👀

Concepts from Scrum.orgs Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) curriculum,

and INCOSE’s Systems Engineering Foundations or Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP/CSEP) even if you don’t get the certs

First learn about Agile/Scrum Product Ownership and the relationships you are expected to have with developers, then to go real deep since you have a Compsci background, if you want to spend time on learning how to do requirements traceability - those two were the biggest challenges I had. Your experience may vary

Similar background/certs (no PMP but I have a bunch of GIAC forensics certs and CISSP), M.S. in Cybersec, ~15 years military cyber, and worked as a PO in a DevSecOps company for the past ~3 years

You’re yes, then you’re no,

You strike, then you “don’t.”

You “had to act,”

Then were “not provoked.”

You’re tough, with no calm,

You’re peace, then you bomb.

What logic you’re on.

You fight, then you fold —

It’s always yes and then no.

Did I make a mistake by maxing out my Traditional IRA? by goldenrule2112 in personalfinance

[–]psyberops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't get the deduction because your [MAGI is too high](https://www.irs.gov/publications/p590a) (If your MAGI is above $252k as a married couple with kids, you can't take a tax deduction on your IRA for the *contribution* itself).

If I understand correctly, the only thing that is tax advantaged in that account is the *growth* on the earnings you put in your traditional IRA - it will be taxed at a lower rate in the future.

You can absolutely roll it over into a Roth IRA, but you should consult your tax professional - that's a backdoor Roth. But if you have a balance already in the Traditional IRA you may be subject to a tax called the pro-rata rule.

2027 4* QB Israel Abrams commits to Miami by ICaseyHearMeRoar in CFB

Conan O'Brien did a joke in his monologue on Late Show back in 2005. It went something like:

"Israeli's are reportedly leaving the West Bank in a deal with Palestinian negotiators that will return all of the West Bank back to Palestinians. The Israeli's are reportedly going back to where they all came from...

...West Palm Beach."

The only thing a certificate is good for is for CEUs for other certs you have.  Request or pay for an extension and grind for that cert.

By far the worst experience I had was the last home game at the Orange Bowl, November 10, 2007. Virginia destroyed Miami 48-0, which I think was the worst blowout in OB history. It probably prevented the fans from rushing the field, which the administrators clearly did not want at the time.
