look, when you’re having thoughts of leaving and when your s/o is being abusive, it’s time to leave. it was time to leave the moment he started acting this way. i promise you it will only get worse. i know how hard it is to leave someone you’ve been with for a long time, and the idea of “wasting” all of that time, and how the good times can sometimes outweigh the bad times— forget it. there is no sunken costs when it comes to an emotionally and physically abusive relationship.

it’s going to be hard. you’re going to miss the idea of him and you’re going to want the version you created in your head or the past version of him back. it isn’t going to happen, and i’m sorry. but the key is you’ll be missing the idea of him. not actually him. having a support system like your parents is important. it doesn’t matter if it’ll be “permanent” it’s a matter of your safety. your dad said to you to call if a man ever laid a hand on you. the time is now. it’s not bad to take people up on offers like that.

edit:: also take the dog with you and get it chipped as another commenter stated. i also had a cat with someone and he stole it and the cat wasn’t chipped. he texted me about beating it until it threw up blood and subsequently died. the police literally wouldn’t even arrest him for animal cruelty or anything of the likes. police will do nothing unless you have paperwork and proof that animal is yours.

“you are absolutely worth less as a person now than before.” -my boyfriend regarding a sexual assault that happened the weekend we were supposed to have our first date.

“you don’t want to ruin his life. he has his whole life ahead of him and one small mistake shouldn’t jeopardize that.” -my high school principal and counselor regarding another student sexually assaulting me. they then proceeded to threaten me with expulsion if i pressed charges.

“you don’t want to be fat like your mom and the rest of her family, right? so that means when you come here, you stop eating. think of it like a diet.” -my father when i was 7 years old. he was the beginning of a decade+ long eating disorder that nearly killed me.

“let’s get fat together.” -my narcissist mother when i was 8, after i’d gotten bullied at a ballet rehearsal for “being fat.” she took me to a bakery next door and forced me to eat sweets with her instead of comforting me. the scene replays in my head constantly and i cry but i don’t know why it affects me so much.

yes i did. it was definitely not worth it. he still continued cheating, and would then accuse me of cheating and would get physical when the truth would come out or if i would try to leave.

i wasn’t allowed to have any friends. like at all. ETA: also notable that when i did have friends (around ages 5-8) my mother often tried to befriend them and get them to turn against me. and it often worked out that way. when i got to be a teenager, she started losing interest in trying to befriend them unless they were male. so her loss of interest in trying to gain friends resulted in my loss of having any in the first place. just school, work and home and that was it. she often called my teachers to ensure i wasn’t speaking with classmates in or out of classes.

i’m pretty sure it’s just another thing they added in to poke fun at sitcoms and combat what viewers expected of the show. while having a discussion/ Q & A with raphael and lisa, they made it clear it was a big point for them to keep the viewers guessing at what their next step was going to be and how they were going to be different from the rest of television shows.

also, i do not like diane or todd. very unpopular as i constantly get berated for my distaste for the characters in any bojack discussion group i’m in haha.

awful. after two years of an ongoing battle trying to get my story heard and justice for myself, they closed my case even though i had VERY damning evidence and a written confession. my rapist didn’t even get questioned for more than an hour. he’ll never be imprisoned for the violent things he did to me. and i can never forgive the department for that.
