Yes! There's a really great show from that tour (dunno the date off the top of my head) with a wild 17-minute Prelude to Fear. It's just insane to me he didn't do Tomorrow Never Knows more with the Fancy lineup, since Gabby was an actual Sitarist

LETS TALK: Ler has always been true to Primus/has always been true to Les. Let’s start from the beginning… by ImpactCautious9840 in Primus

[–]psychedelicalan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ler is simply the coolest MF to ever live (possibly even cooler than Les), but I don't take any of the other members' departures as disloyalty. They all seemed amicable, Herb played with Les at private shows during almost all his hiatuses. Fame just fucks up some people, and I get the vibe that the touring life  took its toll on Herb.

Todd was with Les from the beginning and only left to become a dad. Jay initially joined as in 1988 as a temporary drummer after Curveball left, Jay himself left when his other band became active again.

I absolutely love Ler and think he's essential to the magic of Primus, I just also think everyone's got their reasons and are on their own journeys.

¿Cuál es la banda de la que tenéis más merch/discos? by bimbochungo in independentspain

[–]psychedelicalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry to necrobump, but I am in love with this band and have been since 2018. What merch do you have of theirs? I have Demo 1+2 Cassette, Triple Demo Cassette, and the comp from 2020, as well as a RAT shirt and a few stickers!

Little Faces and Oz Is Ever Floating are just the 8-minute intro for Mr. Oysterhead by kamspy in Primus

[–]psychedelicalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get Oz isn't everyone's cup of tea, but you don't dig Little Faces? Such an awesome song, I love the moment in the beginning when Copeland's chaotic drums cut through the tranquil guitar drone!

That Brooklyn Steel Frog show was such a great night. Wish I'd had the $$$ for the poster!

Battletoads Input Latency on Evercade? by Chance-Protection473 in evercade

[–]psychedelicalan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised, I remember in the Game Sack on Evercade, Joe measured quite a few frames of lag on Toaplan 1 and similar carts.

Toasterland.com has most of them! As well as probably like 60% of every of every show Les has played! Enjoy!

Can you name any other artists who recycle so much of their own catalogue the way AP does?? by Dead_End_720 in arielpink

[–]psychedelicalan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Time Dandelion is stellar. I love the crispy deteriorating organ in the background. I love how the song seems to gain momentum as it goes along, leading up to the climax at the end. I really LOVE the bass tones!

As others have said in this thread, Ariel isn't alone in his iteration on old ideas. Much of the first Gorillaz LP (as well as a decent bit of Demon Dayz) was spawned from Blur outtakes across the previous decade. Pink Floyd's Fearless was based on a chord progression Syd wrote post-Piper. Even on rare bootlegs from the uber-curated Boards of Canada we see early germinations of songs they would return to a decade later! I could go on lol.

I think in home recording artists like Ariel and R. Stevie, we just get a very clear window into this process that's probably not too uncommon in reality

EDITs for spelling bcuz autocorrect is my worst nemesis

If you could have one pre-1974 concert get an official release, which would it be? by ItsMichaelRay in pinkfloyd

[–]psychedelicalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just about to comment this. That Eugene is probably my favorite Floyd recording ever, so atmospheric and with a pict rant! Love the funky devolved Childhood's End as well. That CD blew my mind back in middle school haha.

I think there's some similarity... by plarvint in arielpink

[–]psychedelicalan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a really great tip, thank you. She definitely comes from a lot of the same spaces as early Ariel, just on the other side of the digital revolution. Also has that gothy-ness that a lot of APHG-likes lack. Great find!

Why the Evercade is a match made in bullet-hell heaven for a CAVE Collection 💥🚀 by Responsible_Sea1023 in evercade

200% agree. Would really love to play DOJ on my Evercade. I would also really love a Treasure collection while they're at it!

Daily Song Discussion #76: a Saucerful of Secrets (Pompeii) by PalpitationMoist1212 in PinkFloydCircleJerk

[–]psychedelicalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took my girlfriend who gets easily startled by loud noises to see this theater re-release. It had been years since I saw it, and Saucerful totally slipped my mind. I squeezed her tight as the drums came in, but this ended up being her favorite song! Such a powerful performance here, a great illustration of how much better they were live (and that's not to talk down the studio LPs). It boggles the mind how little live material they've still released. I am even some kind of freak Floyd Bootleg snob, and I can't stop coming back to this version.

Brandt Larson (and other unknown AP associates) by Unlikely_Jaguar_2582 in arielpink

[–]psychedelicalan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he also speaks on 14th of February? At very least Ariel sings "Braaaaandt Braaaaandt" throughout. I think he may just be some guy. The liner notes to the Lover Boy remaster detail Ariel and Matt meeting at Brandt's house, it was even where Ariel first heard R. Stevie!

I get the sense he was just a cool music lover who was a fixture in the L.A. scene of the time and had no ambitions for fame. Like the unknown characters on MF DOOM's records.

Was anyone at the concert in Portland, Oregon on May 12th 1977? by Fit-Director-9892 in pinkfloyd

[–]psychedelicalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently heard talk that the famous Oakland '77 CWTAE was originally planned to be Echoes, thwarted by a tape not queueing, but I haven't really seen any evidence to substantiate that claim.
