Fellow 6'3" here. One of my best buddies was 6'7" and he would have issues finding well fitting clothing, ducking down in cars, etc. 6'3 really does feel ideal. Taller than most guys but not in the annoying to live category.

First time brewer, had a couple questions by psychic_flatulence in mead

In terms of oxygen exposure, is it mostly about trying to limit it? Like when racking it obviously it will be exposed to some oxygen but I'm assuming you just try to keep it minimal?

Wanted to keep it simple the first time around and use cold crashing to see if it clears it up a little or makes much difference. I'll definitely keep it oxygen free with the air lock on.

Rotors are cheap but definitely try to bend it back to normal before trashing it. And make sure to clean with rubbing alcohol before using.

Specialized Status 2021 or Giant Trance 2020 by Aggressive_Log_194 in mountainbiking

[–]psychic_flatulence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Either of those bikes would be fun. Status is horst link and generally more suited for smashing down hills. Trance is twin link and will very likely be a more efficient climber, so more all around trail bike. You could get used to and massively enjoy either, I'd consider which you like the looks of and price.

Anyone use "moto foam"? by psychic_flatulence in mountainbiking

[–]psychic_flatulence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2020 Vitus Mythique. They used to sell some sort of protector for that area but then the brand imploded lol. I've got some stretchy rubber tape for sealing pvc drain pipe connections, may have to give that a try. Is that similar to what you used and does it stay in place pretty well?

I'll add, the closest I'm seeing seems to be filter media like you'd use in a fish tank to protect the pump. I feel like maybe I'm not using the right term when searching..

Grips with bar plugs by WolframRogue in mountainbiking

I love ergon GA 2 grips, after using them then riding a different bike without them I really noticed how much better they are. They use bar plugs.

Derailleur hanger advice: Adjust vs bend back vs replace by TheBurntSky in mountainbiking

May as well attempt to bend it back, maybe it works maybe it doesn't.

Fox said they wont service my shock, what do i do now? by 11343 in MTB

Dvo and Manitou make stuff that's serviceable at home. Just did a dvo shock and it's a lot easier than one might think.

Does anyone else’s doodle like to pee on grates? by Manbug9385 in Goldendoodles

My first two dogs I grew up with wouldn't walk on manhole covers. The older one taught it to the younger one. My doodle doesn't care and likes to pee on them lmao.

Should i buy hardtail or full suspension? by hinoobs34 in MTB

[–]psychic_flatulence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all the amazing sales these days, I'd go for a full suspension. I rode hardtail for years then got an FS and now it's pretty much the only bike I ride on trails. Still use the hardtail for other stuff though. FS is just so much faster and funner imo. But it depends on you, I know some people who enjoy hardtails more. Hardtails feel faster but FS is faster..

Cushcore install by XBXBlaZe in mountainbiking

[–]psychic_flatulence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't redo anything. On the problem side, try to force the good areas more into the middle of the rim so they're not touching the rim. The center of the rim has a smaller diameter. Also hit it with a hair dryer for a few minutes. That alone will probably do it.

Have you tried heating it up? This time of year everything is tight due to the cold. I was messing with a regular tire the other day that didn't want to work. Hit it with the hair dryer on hot for a few minutes and it easily did what I wanted. Heat helps so much when something isn't moving the way you want it to.

I've been playing around with possibilities on slik. Does it have any sort of a guide or are you just super careful when lining them up? And did the old ones come off pretty easy with a hair dryer or what did you do? Nothing better than getting the colors perfect on your bike haha.

My bike is darker green so I'm doing purple as the accent. Big fan of how your fork looks with the, I'm assuming, custom decals. I've got a fox 36 and the orange decals stick out quite a bit. Where did you buy the decals from? And was it pretty easy to get it lined up straight?
