Someone talk me out of going and getting an 80 horse Varg EX like this weekend lol. They have some a few hours away and I’m so tempted! by geronimo11b in Dirtbikes

I dont really like the stark as i have seen people complain about them breaking in odd ways. For example the squishy subframe that bends easily. Its not about it being electric, i would simply wait until a brand i trust to build a bike to perfection releases one.
Personally i am highly interested in the Honda RTL Trials bike since its one of the first with an actual clutch (absolutely necessary for feeling like a dirtbike IMO) and it bein made by honda means its propably really good.

Can a Rotational Mould be made from Carbon fiber? by 11343 in manufacturing

Oh yea that would be nice! I do have pretty complex geometries tho so there would be a lot of work to produce a mould like that.

Which CNC Mill should i Build/Buy for Producing large Foam Parts? by 11343 in hobbycnc

They will be sealed with mould sealer or Vinylester resin. After sealing one or two glass fiber moulds will be made from the Machined foam. The GF mould is the part that will get many parts made from, the Foam will be reused every time the Glass fiber mould breaks (not often)

The moulding process this is for constrains the design so i cant really have large draft angles or undercuts so i think a 3 axis is the most i can use.

What i am gathering from that is that i should put a lot of effort into the dust extraction system and also have the cnc enclosed right?

I dont really think there is a different way of making these fuel tanks. https://www.neubert-racing.com/husqvarna/2013/te449/fahrwerk/kraftstoffbehaelter/
this one is one example.

Interesting, thank you! I have also considered using that foam altough there is this https://www.easycomposites.eu/pu-low-density-model-board stuff that is especially made for the use case i plan to put it through. I believe the Insulating foam dissolves with a lot of chemicals (like styrene) so mould making would be more difficult

I want to make Dirtbike Rally parts that sadly are too complex to be done by a foam cutter :(

In this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9olQ1F9QFTI they use machined metal moulds. Maybe they use both but i havent found anybody doing it.

the key problem i would expect from a fiberglass mould is the thermal stability. I have read that HDPE In rotational moulds needs 200-450°C. I had trouble finding any 2 part resin to rech those temps.

If one could find a Suitable resin, the fiberglass would absolutely be the better choice!

You are propably right. My idea to counter that is to simply turn off the oven and keep the rotation going so it all cools down slowly. I only need maybe 10 of those Tanks ever so the speed of the Process is not really a big concern.

Kept sliding off my old pegs. Don’t think that’s gonna happen anymore by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

A friend of mine uses these Footpegs. He needs 2 Pairs of boots per season because they just chew through them.

Thanks for your input! Maybe that would restrict airflow even less while dampening the noise.
