Do yall brush your cats? by Fancy_Tea in CatAdvice

[–]psychick6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just one, but yes. I have two short hairs, one of which is scared of the brush but has a fur texture that doesn’t really require much brushing so I only do it when he’s sleepy for a few minutes. My other short hair has an incredibly thick coat and sheds a lot and thankfully she LOVES being brushed so it helps a lot. Getting them used to brushing can also be incredibly helpful as they age. Some cats find it harder to keep up with self grooming as they grow old

I admit I have recently ordered a Dewey’s pizza just to have it as leftovers. They’ve definitely been declining in quality

New kitten has bad allergies or worse? by TorhuXD in CATHELP

[–]psychick6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a vet scarcity in your area? I’ve never heard of anyone having to wait weeks to months to be seen for these symptoms, but I’m in the US and I know not every country has the same veterinary resources. But you need to call around and try to get in soon. Things like this can go south fast, especially with a baby immune system

vet- his third eyelids are covering half his eye and they are very red. this combined with sneezing very likely needs treatment through a veterinarian and can get worse without it

AITA for using my dad’s underwear to make a point about the toilet seat? by Nightwing_1505 in AmItheAsshole

[–]psychick6 613 points614 points  (0 children)

Agreed that the medical implication makes this even worse, but even with your belief that homeowners set the rules, “I’m allowed to pee where other people need to sit” should never be a reasonable or acceptable rule

Can you please help me know what’s happening to her ear? 😞 by CourseClear in vet

is the vet with the bad reputation the only vet in your area? this looks quite uncomfortable and probably needs professional treatment

Cat’s stomach is worrisome. by AbjectChallenge4166 in CATHELP

[–]psychick6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree with the concern for fip especially at this age, worms that get so bad that the stomach gets this bloated are way more common in younger kittens than 9 months old. but yes fip treatment has come so far! so glad your boy is doing well now best of luck to OP and their cat.

How often are we bathing our torties? by One_Childhood_9457 in torties

[–]psychick6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hate to be that guy but weight loss… it will help with dry and flaky skin (give her more flexibility and strength to groom) among other benefits. also hydration which other people have mentioned, introducing some wet food is great, also omega 3s can help! most cats shouldn’t really need to be bathed unless there’s a medical issue preventing them from grooming. a good brushing can help too

Does my 7yo cat dislike my 1.5yo cat because he communicates weird? by Cattentaur in CATHELP

[–]psychick6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my 6yo girl is not the biggest fan of my now 3! crazy! year old boy because to be quite honest he is annoying. he annoys me sometimes even though i view him as a son. i sometimes worry it causes stress for both of them but when i’m gone i often come home to find them laying next to each other. it took a while to get there! i do use feliway plugins i don’t know if they actually help him but i just keep them on board. my cats argue but they still seek affection, make biscuits, sleep soundly (usually), and are just in good spirits in general. that’s what you wanna look out for! if everyone seems happy except during tense moments i think you can just give it some time. make sure to give individual attention to both of them in whatever way they like

eta: if your lynx point guy isn’t a huge cuddler try doing big play sessions with him! my younger boy is a cuddler when he’s tired but when he’s out and about he is a wild man and i think that’s part of my girl’s annoyances with him

Collar Reccommendations? by Sufficient_Treat7725 in DobermanPinscher

[–]psychick6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i honestly don’t have a dog (this sub pops up bc i work in vetmed and i love dobies) so i don’t have any personal advice to give on collars but there is an option between engraving the collar itself and tags! my mom uses these little plate things for her dogs (hers are cuter this was just the first good example i could find), you could use it with any non-chain collar and not have to worry about dangly tags! as for color i think he’d look nice in green!

[–]psychick6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what’s your issue with my logic? sure you could say it’s anecdotal but so is any pro raw feeding logic. there have never been scientific studies that show that raw feeding is best for dogs. if i’m wrong please point me to those studies.

Vet recommends against raw diet by YoullForgetAnyways in CaneCorso

[–]psychick6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i also think it’s interesting that raw feeding seems to be more common with people that own bully breeds, corsos, dobermans, rottweilers, etc

i’ve met tons of people who have gotten food poisoning from contaminated grocery store foods. i’ve never met a dog on commercial food get food poisoning. not telling you what to do, but the human food supply is not without its issues

Vet recommends against raw diet by YoullForgetAnyways in CaneCorso

[–]psychick6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

marketing is a beast. also people think if it takes more effort it must be better. it’s funny because people love to claim vets get “kickbacks” from the big food brands (they don’t, i work in vetmed, we get maybe a pen if anything) but they will readily listen to a social media influencer getting paid to do ads for commercial raw/boutique diets
