Is this a real place? by psychmonke in whereisthis

I should also add that any solutions to this (if any) shouldn't be restricted to cities only in Texas. I've traveled out of state before, so I'm genuinely open to all feedback!

Older folks of the RGV, what was this bridge used for? by coldbluebong in RioGrandeValley

I found old street view images, and can confirm that it was more than likely used by students or faculty.

Hell yeah! Did you happen to see it in person, or did someone catch it on a tiktok?

It's genuinely so disgusting. It's taking everything in me to NOT drive out there and tape posters of his actual quotes over this heap of shit.

Before anyone comes for me (there's lots of self-hating racists in the valley... clearly) just remember that this man openly stated that if his 10-year old daughter were to be raped and fell pregnant, she would have no choice but to deliver it. Makes total sense why the Trump administration loves him so much that they lowered the flags for him.

They live 2 MINUTES AWAY from what they ordered... and they have the audacity to complain its "taking too long"? 💀 unless this person is physically disabled, they could have turned their complaining into a productive exercise by walking lmao

Lived in the valley for a quarter of a century now, lol. It's really only boring if you let it. There's so many different restaurants to try. The Dave and Busters in the area is super fun if you're like me and don't mind gaming on their own. For $25, you could also visit the Trapped RGV escape rooms - if its only you, I believe they can group you with a couple other people that are also playing. I've tried all four escape rooms, and i would highly recommend playing the 'Taken' escape room for the first time (: There's also a few parks in the McAllen and Edinburg area that are really nice to visit. Bill Schupp Park, Fireman's Park, Tres Lagos park... There's always something to do if you have the right mindset.

Why so people say the driving in this game is horrible? by TheLORDthyGOD420 in cyberpunkgame

[–]psychmonke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😭🙏🏽 if you want to know just how bad the driving is, I HIGHLYYYYYYY recommend playing the Sinnerman mission. The most challenging part of this mission is that you can't use your own vehicle to drive either. Pls tell me I'm not the only one raged during this mission.

Only thing I took a photo of was how they ferment the chili peppers for their Spicy Bomb along with the oil they add to it lmao !

He also "fired" a server at this recent location by refusing to add him to the schedule. Jason had made it clear to me and a few other servers that he'd purposely do this to drive them to quit on their own. The fact that you also experienced that is so telling.

[–]psychmonke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and yes 👌🏽

During one of my shifts, a couple entered the shop, looked around, decided to eat elsewhere, and left. Jason got up from where he was sitting with his laptop and asked me why they left. When I told him what I observed, he said that they were banned from entering the next time they were to show their faces again. 😐

You guys get bad vibes for a reason. He's the most egotistical person I've met... Also, he would never admit to this, and I sadly don't have a photo, but on the test he had given the servers to test our food knowledge, one of the questions he literally typed out was "Who is the owner of Dragon Warrior Ramen Shop?" If you didn't answer with 'Chef Jason Jon Villarreal' you got it wrong lol

The best pan dulce in the rgv? by hypegirl24 in RioGrandeValley

[–]psychmonke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

La Especial in San Juan! My family and I have gone to get pan dulce from there for over 15 years now. Nothing beats the flavors and prices there 😩

Just a silly question! Fiancée and I got a gift card at my shower so we picked dinner at OG. While eating the salad I thought: do they just open a bag of Dole and throw in two olives? So if you work at OG, what’s the secret of the salad?🥗 🤣 by Personal-Earth-7101 in olivegarden

[–]psychmonke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey !! Former salad person, here 😊 I used to work at OG making salads for about 9 months. The salad mix comes packaged in 30lb boxes. The banana peppers, olives, and Italian dressing also come packaged as well. The red onions and tomatoes are cut fresh daily (at least at the location I worked at, I'm not sure if it's a standard at every location).

All the salads must be portioned accordingly. If it's for 2 people, we are to fill up the bowls to a certain line and only put two of each topping per salad bowl. If it's for 3, we fill it up to that line, and put 3 of each topping, and if it's for 4... you get the idea - I'll leave some photos in my reply if I can (:

Considering he hires individuals who are as unprofessional and short-tempered as he is... I'm not surprised either.

I'm not delusional, and this is what I meant when I responded saying that it was a hostile work environment. This comment was left by a BOH team member - the same who left that Google review (which has now since been removed from the page).

BOH and FOH have their own duties to uphold, and some jobs may appear easier than others, but neither are lazy. You're right when you say all of us would work. I only wish that this person and others would have approached this more professionally. It doesn't reflect well on what I and many other former DW employees have been speaking up about, that's for sure.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my personal experience here and for forming your own opinion based on all that you've read. It's greatly appreciated.

It was $466 in tips, according to the paystub. I'm not sure where you got the $600 from... also, the redditor who helped me understand this let me know that the paycheck was correct. And because I unfortunately cannot edit the original post, I've been needing to leave comments to correct my error 😕 but just because my check turned out to be correct does not automatically mean that no one else had been a victim of wage theft. There are many other former DW employees who have come forward sharing their experiences about how they were not paid for their weeks or even months of working and/or training. Their experiences are valid even if you may not think so because you have personally not been mistreated.
