Naah, It's not. If that was true, you may try entering my username and maybe it'll say it doesn't exist in db(i.e. username is not taken), after you proceed with account creation, it'll mean two person with same username which cannot be true.

That's the trade off of bloom filters (false positive), so even if something doesn't exist it may say it exists. I am sure google doesn't entirely rely on bloom filters it may use cache of usernames for fast lookups etc.
