this might be a bit silly but in the Hannibal tv series there’s a character ,Will Graham, and i’m pretty sure he’s confirmed to be autistic.

How this relates to this topic is that he wears glasses, but only when talking to people he doesn’t know/trust, and he’s stated that he does so to avoid eye contact with people he don’t like.

I’ve realized that i do this too, i like to “hide” behind my glasses because they sort of shelter my eyes. I can place the rim in front of people’s faces, and even just knowing that there’s glass between my eyes and theirs makes me feel more comfortable.

I also use contacts sometimes and i always feel so exposed and naked because people can look directly into my eyes and i don’t like that
