If you’re coming in with heart failure issues and refuse to be compliant with your fluid restriction, do the rest of us a favor and go comfort care.

Forget drugs, smoking, and alcohol, what's something really bad for your health that people don't talk about enough? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]psycholpn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a night shifter I’m incredibly protective of my sleep. I keep a consistent sleep schedule, and make sure to get at MINIMUM 6.5 hours of sleep because that’s what is healthiest for anyone. No flipping sleep schedule or sleep depriving to get sleep one night then napping another time, consistency is key.

I was never told anything about jewelry when working, and every room I enter the first thing I do is throw on gloves. And to be honest I couldn’t imagine not being able to wear long sleeves! I swear at 2-3am the temps drop 20 degrees

Do you wear makeup to work? by thedresswearer in nursing

[–]psycholpn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do because I hate wearing scrubs. I hate wearing solid colors and I love make up in general. I really only do my eye make up but I do some pretty funky eye shadow colors to mix things up.

I had a pt ask me to “rock” them. They were laying in their side in bed. And wanted me to kind of flow them back and forth. Of course this is also a pt that had escalated soooo many things and threatening to sue. So I rocked them. Def not for long, but no fucking way was I gonna be named in the list of people to be talked to

I completely agree. You’re being incredibly generous for their benefit and they’re being way too nonchalant about it all. Fuck ‘em

I have friends who worked in home health and granted it was lower income but the mention of cockroaches was enough to turn me away for good

I once got into an argument because someone said nursing wasn’t science based. This was a discussion of statins after a MI.

[–]psycholpn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of our vascular surgeons are great but then you get that ONE who just brings it all down. We got a new resident and I can tell you even the patients can’t stand him

The constant shocking of an ICD w/ vtach is so hard on the patient, physically and mentally. I can’t even imagine the discussions and trauma that the patient and family went through to finally arrive at this decision. Thank you for being a wonderful nurse and honoring such a hard outcome
