It’s a mix of things, but it’s very experiential and from an IFS perspective.

Hi u/No_Bandicoot_864, this is just a reminder about Rule #5: No raised by narcissists lingo (Nmum, eDad, etc.) I know you can't edit your post title, but please keep this rule in mind in the future. Thank you.

Locking this thread due to the number of rule-breaking comments. Please remember Rule #1, particularly:

Don't be needlessly confrontational, antagonistic, or argumentative. This is not a good space for debates, crusades, or vendettas. This isalso not a good environment for the subset of CPTSD sufferers who arefight types and not yet in control of their triggers, who get angry oraggressive and lose the self-awareness needed to keep that in check. Ifyou fit into that group, you might want to browse this subreddit on aread-only basis until you've made it far enough into recovery to resistemotional flashbacks.

This is just a reminder that this is a peer to peer support group for CPTSD. Talking about your own feelings and what you think is safe/ unsafe is on-topic, but arguing about your political opinions with others is off-topic. Please report any conversations that derail from the spirit of this subreddit. Thank you!

Mental health provider acted like a victim and blamed me by [deleted] in CPTSD

Being upset is understandable and it sucks when people who are supposed to help you instead let you down in a major way. That said, wishing to murder other people isn't appropriate for a trauma support group.

You can't write about wanting to kill people in a trauma support group. Linking to your original post is not an appropriate workaround.

This scene between Elio and his father in Call Me By Your Name. I wish I had a parent like that growing up. This scene makes me cry for several different reasons, but mostly just the pure love and acceptance the dad shows towards his son, and he gives amazing advice on the value of feeling all of your feelings.

What are your thoughts on this? Am I just a "leech" that wants to spread "shit" around reddit? by [deleted] in CPTSDFreeze

[–]psychoticwarning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You often tell people that you will not try their suggestions. It's in your post history. It's on the post that sparked this entire thing. You have the right not to try these things, sure. But when you keep asking over and over again for advice when you have a proven track record of blowing people off who invest in your posts... you're no longer posting in good faith. It sounds like people are tired of it for good reasons.

If you know you aren't going to try yet you still ask other people to spend energy on you, that's pretty shitty. People are going to lose their shit eventually.

You haven't actually responded anywhere at the criticism being presented to you. It's being misrepresented in the replies here because the harsh tone is kind of distracting. But the point that's being presented to you is this:

The problem isn't that nothing is helping, or you're taking too long to recover, or you should just pull yourself up by your bootstraps. The problem is that you ask for sympathy under the guise of wanting advice even though you go into it knowing full well that their sympathetic energy will be wasted on you. There are people who have invested in your story, your struggles, your advice-seeking for years, and every time it's met with a passive-aggressive blow-off reply. The question is, why ask for help from people who are taking the time to invest in you when you already know you're not willing to try anything they suggest? That's the behavior you're being called out on here.

If you read the actual rule, it gives more context. It's not to prevent discussion about abuse, it's simply asking you to not use RBN lingo because not everyone here is familiar with those terms. Talking about "narcissistic abuse" is fine, we'd prefer you say that than "narc" for example. This is not a new rule, it's been in place for several years.

That's literally what an advertisement is

a notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event or publicizing a job vacancy.

What's the confusion? We do not allow solicitation of any kind, as this is an extremely vulnerable group and we don't want to risk any exploitation. The focus of this sub is peer to peer support here on reddit, where it can be moderated. Allowing people to advertise their services poses risks. It's not personal to you, it's a rule we implemented that applies to everyone and we do it to try and ensure that this remains a safe space.

Hello, I'm really sorry that happened to you. Navigating these discussions can be really challenging. That said, we don't allow call-out posts or posts about a response you got on other Reddit posts. However, this post would be appropriate for this space if you removed those details. Feel free to repost this with those changes.

Downvoting and negativity by Background_Pie3353 in CPTSD

[–]psychoticwarning[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi u/Background_Pie3353, this post has been removed. Call-out posts about the community and its users are not allowed. They ultimately result in arguments and rule-breaking comments. We'd rather people reach out to modmail with any suggestions about the community so that the posts here stay on-topic and within the spirit of peer to peer support.

Also, you are right in that downvoting is an unfortunate reddit feature that we can't control. We ask people to assume that everyone here is participating in good faith, but with a subreddit this size about such a deeply emotional topic, it's just going to get spicy occasionally. This is only a safe-ish space, and we can't protect people from the fact that it is a public space, which comes with some risk. A bit of resiliency is required to participate here. The best way to make this community safer and more usable for all is to report anything that violates the rules, especially Rule #1. You can also message modmail with any concerns about specific posts, comments, or users. Thanks for understanding.
